I am countering this with EVERYTHING that American TV puts out. If it isn't some cheesy back-slapping whoop whooping commentary on a documentary, it's terrible comedy that you know each sketch of before you watch the program.

Forget which side of the Atlantic it comes from, a good, general guide for humour is -

No laugh track - humour is good - they KNOW it's funny and you're smart enough to get it!
Laugh track - no humour - it's not funny - the producers need to tell you when you were expected to laugh!

Especially NOT funny - almost every American sit-com and especially NOT funny, anything American with kids!

When I was in High school, some other students did that squealing thing and laughed, said it was of some movie that I wouldn't want to know about or see.
Now I know. And regret it.
