One thing I won't do is wear one of those horrible face masks though. Too bloody restrictive and hot.
At least get a pair of Protective glasses, as loosing an eye is going to be a lot more inconvenient than having to endure wearing a face mask for a few hours (at most).

Read my earlier posts I wear eye protection (its mandatory), but not a full face mask.

Might go the gum-shield route for next time though, as that was a close call last weekend.

A few people wear helmets (or face-masks) - not many though.

Eye protection is usually enough. Unlike paintball, airsoft rounds don't usually leave a bruise - but they do sting and will leave a mark if you are hit at closer ranges.

You said that you think the masks look stupid, right?
Well, one of these would be awesome:

In case you don't recognize (since this is a bad picture), those are army of two replicas ^^

Nah - its not so much that they look crap - its more that face-masks are hot and restrict your visibility. A few of the guys I skirmish with have ballistic helmets - but in my opinion thats unnecessary, unless of course you have no hair to help absorb any impact.

My biggest problem at the moment is that (once its repaired) my L85A2 is one heavy mofo. The rifle itself weighs in at 3.5kg. The SUSAT sight is another 0.5kg or so. Even with a 3-point sling its still a bugger to lug around. Don't remember the real one being that heavy!..... it was - but I was younger and fitter back then

My other weapon (G36E) weighs in at about 2.8kg which is better, but its a much longer rifle, so tricky to use in CQB situations.

Back on topic, did you find out what the problem was with the gun? If it was consistently after 20 or so shots, could it be a regulator problem?
Personally, I got a service/parts guide and strip down tools when I got my PB marker. Gave it a thorough deburr and clean out, removing sharp edges where required.
I also used a full head protection after taking a headshot from a couple of inches - enough blood for them to thinkit was a red ball - illegal on that field - and shut down play while they checked markers.
Mouth guards are a good idea - had a friend who got hit in the mouth when yelling - the ball clipped his tooth and sprayed the back of hit throat with the soap & dye mix - he wasn't happy [thumbup]

My L85A2 is still with our armourer, I'm waiting to hear. I suspect that its some kind of electrical / wiring problem. The gearbox etc seems fine - as when it shoots its fine.

When I took a look at the internals I saw a few wires that seemed possibly stripped or crushed, and some of the spacing internally seemed very tight - possible resulting in a short when everything was assembled (as the shell is metal). The battery is good - so its not that. Luckily I have my G36E as a "backup" which has been working fine for 6+ months now. My next skirmish is 31st July, so plenty of time.
