I need to transfer some money from the Netherlands back over to the UK and have no idea what the most advantageous method is. It isn't that much, about $8k. Any ideas or recommendations?

Interbank EU transfer. I can do it via my ABN internet banking here in NL. Dead simple, two choices - standard or fast speed. Not expensive.

Just do an electronic transfer. You just need to provide your IBAN to the sending bank. Will probably cost 25 EUR for that sum and you'll get a better rate than through a third party.

I send EUR/GBP to and from my Spanish bank account all the time.

That's what I just did, sent 900 euro's to Holland a few days ago to pay off a debt.
