Default A geek's rant of the day...
G'day onions!, i gotta say.. im a really a geek or what..

Cause this rant of mine been bothering quite a while now.. lol

Here it goes.. basically im ranting abt those ppl who buys high-end rigs and play games like warcraft3/dota or worse flashgames only...[thumbdown]

Fine.. some ppl i know they do play hi-requirement games like Crysis.. but... the hardwares they bought its like really good stuffs like us$60 cpufan, us$250 mobo and yet.. they don't overclock (nor have any intention) at all [surrender]... i mean u can get the same performance on value hardwares like ASrock etc which its abt 1/3 of the price and just use stock cpu hsf considering theres no o/c will be done.

WHATS WRONG WITH THESE PPL!?.. [help]

/rant end

Cheers

1. not everyone buys high-end computers to play the latest 3D games. Nowadays my PC does more photo editing than gaming. A performance machine is a joy to use, due to how responsive it is... and the only "gaming" component that won't make someone recognize a faster computer under normal use is a high end graphics card.

2. I used to overclock. A lot. I had my 1.6Ghz pentium 4 up to 2.5 or 2.6. But at my age now, I simply can't dedicate the time. I buy high-end components because I am confident they won't fail under use, and won't make my computer unstable. Extra 20% fps doesn't bother me much. If I really need it, I'll buy a new CPU or graphics card. If I can't afford it, then it's too high end and I don't need it.

It's that simple.

People have different opinions, I don't see the issue. After all, it's their money to waste.

BTW, Warcraft III can be insanely demanding if you have enough units in the game as every other RTS.

Err.. i think u don't get what im trying to say here...

And the way u said its like a 60bucks Coolermaster V8 will outlast 30bucks AC Freezer 7 Pro?.. or a 280bucks GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5 will last longer than 200bucks GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R?..

And whats up with the "Corinthians 13:11"?..

People have different opinions, I don't see the issue. After all, it's their money to waste.

Yea, but the ppl i know that does this has on a tight budget.. they save and save to get it.

I guess ignorance its a bliss... considering i did try to tell them otherwise.. oh well..

Those are different hardware, im referring to mobo and other accessories like cpu hsf.

As i said earlier, does a 60bucks Coolermaster V8 outlast and perform faster than a 30bucks AC Freezer 7 Pro?.. or a 280bucks GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5 will last longer and faster than a 200bucks GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R?..

This its what i meant.. if u peeps didn't understand what im trying to say..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Rig1 : i7-950 + CORSAIR XMS3 4GB DDR3 1600 + GTX480 + Coolermaster V8 ($60) + GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD5 ($280)
vs
Rig2 : i7-950 + CORSAIR XMS3 4GB DDR3 1600 + GTX480 + AC Freezer 7 Pro ($30) + GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R ($200)

Does Rig1 runs faster or last longer than Rig2?.. in all stock/non-tweak setup.

Cheers

Aside from flash games, my 4.2ghz i7 4890 x2 combo has only played the starcraft 2 beta in it's lifetime.

u should be thanking every last person buying high end rig gear weather they play the most demanding games, or log on pogo...

why because they keep the market going and show manufacturers that people want these kinds of components and they keep producing for the enthusiast market

Man i can´t justify wasting money on pc hardware anymore
Consoles have just ruined it for me.

Best bang for the buck => Consoles
End of story

Eh, why?! Did you ask them or? Man, it seems those people just have the wrong balance between common sense and cash flow.

That's very, very arguable. Console vs. High End PC is easy, console wins but with a High End PC for someone that wants customize their own settings is far more powerful on a computer than on a console. Console vs Med End PC is tricky, if you have enough knowledge you will probably end up with a faster PC than the console at a time where both hardware are new.

I too am lazy to overclock. The incremental increase in performance isn't worth it to me. Besides, in a few months time faster hardware comes down in price way before you start feeling the age of what you have.

Yeah nothing like paying 60 dollars for a game and then 20 extra dollars for a map pack with only 2 new maps. Talk about VALUE.

Sounds like good old fashion hating.

I actually stopped caring too much about my video card now that I don't game nearly as much as I used to. However all other components are crucial to my business and day to day life, so those get upgraded as needed (CPU, RAM, Motherboard, SSD, etc.)

Yes, you´re right.
It´s cheaper paying 1000$ for a high end rig and then just pirating the game.

[rolleyes]

My high end rig can do much more than play video games and I can actually play in resolutions that are just slightly better than DVD quality.

Not to mention, Rockstar Collection = 40 Dollars = 10 Games....can't beat it!

I´m not gonna continue arguing with you
My opinion stands

And the Rockstar Collection is meh I´ve purchased pretty much all the titles in the past.

What do you play your console games on? I'm guessing a nice $1000 or so quality HDTV right? A good home theater surround sound system? Sure that may not be the case for you or anyone else, but whatever money you may save on buying a console rather than buying an expensive gaming PC will likely go towards a really nice TV & sound system. At least it could be argued to be useful in other things such as watching movies or TV...something else that computers are good at. Not really trying to argue, just throwing that point out there.

Is it a bit like people buying sportscars and never getting them past 4,000rpm? Or big 4x4s and never going offroad? Having a 4 bedroom house but no family? People like the status / comfort of having something more than they need. It's quite normal.
