I have, numerous times for different reasons. One off the top of my head was because a car was driving on the wrong side of a two lane highway barely missing oncoming cars. I called 911 and the Highway Patrol came out and stopped the car. I stopped too, turned out it was a tourist couple from France who were confused lol.

Yeah, a few times.

1, Car stopped on a major A doad in the UK and people got out and started walking up the carriageway.

2, Motorbike guy sitting next to his bike drinking lots of alcohol and i was worried he was then going ot go on riding.

3, My mum passed out once and hit her head badly.

Yes, but just to test it. It worked .

Part of my job involves supporting the 911 system.

once... neighbor decided to burn her house down at 11:30 at night.

Her excuse "Oh i was painting and burning candles in the same room and i was hungry so i left the candles burning in a room full of wet paint and left to go to town to get a pizza"

she got away with it too...

then she killed herself about 6 months later, ****ed up situation no doubt

Numerous times, but i've forgotten a lot of the reasons. One of the more important ones was when i was 10 years old. I witnessed a woman being taken hostage at knifepoint at the bottom of my street in broad daylight.

Once. My car died in the middle of an on-ramp and was completely blocking it! Had to get the police to get the tow truck to come up the ramp backwards! [thumbup]

Yes, at 3:00 AM.

A black cow was eastbound on I-20 West in Alabama.

Once, when a motorbike smashed into a low wall when turning right on a junction that I was waiting at way too fast. Bike and biker both did several somersaults through the air before landing in some bushes.

Thankfully the biker wasn't hurt.

You'd be surprised at how many crank calls they get. Most of it is just kids who dial quick then hang up right away. What sucks is the dispatch center immediately knows where they are calling from and HAVE to dispatch an officer on scene to check things out just in case there really is an emergency. It's not like on TV where it takes 30 seconds to track someone.

It's not just crank calls, it's people ringing up for the most trivial of reasons. It's a real problem over here. What these people don't seem to realise (or care about) is that while the emergency services are dealing with them, they are not there to deal with people who a have a real emergency!
