Only 140 thousand, and on it's last leg? How sad. |

Yes, the radiator has always had an issue... They're not well engineered, it's been replaced 4 times, and it always ends up leaking, or completely breaking and dumping all the fluid, right now, I have to put about 1/2 quart of fluid in every week. Now there's an exhaust problem too, it's much louder than it should be, and the brake light is constantly on, but the brake fluid's fine, and it has a warped rotor. At this point, the car's only worth ~$2000 in decent condition and I've have to spend fairly close to that to get it in shape to sell for that amount, so it's probably best just to keep that money for a down payment, or monthly payments on a new car. Brake light constantly on is probably a bad earth or a short somewhere to earth, probably in the loom near the light cluster or its wiring. I had a bad earth on my indicators, so I got my multimeter, tested which wires were the earths in the cluster then ran a separate cable from that earth wire to a good earth on the car body, a screw or bolt that has good, clean contact with the body will suffice, then crimp a connector onto the wire and fasten it down beneath the screw/bolt and it should fix it. I'm surprised you guys in America don't drive around in Diesels more often, cos the engines last forever compared to the big american petrol cars. My Peugeot 306 1.9D has just passed 206,000 miles and its still almost as good as the day I first got it 5 years ago for £800, small problem I have at the moment, is I suspect the Diesel injectors need Ultrasonically cleaning, as I'm sure their the original ones when the car was built, so I have a little hesitation in 4th gear when I press the throttle, but apart from that, its perfect. Although I do love the look of some of the older Muscle cars, I don't think I'd want to own one as a daily driver as not only is their petrol mileage crap, but they are way too wide for UK roads, I saw a Camaro years ago when I was a kid and that thing took over a whole lane and then some, where as my Pug 306 has nearly 8 inches to spare either side. |
