Default Back to Blighty
Well i'm moving back to the UK and need a small 1 bed apartment near the centre of London, preferably north of the Thames. I'm aware I'll get absolutely mauled on rent regardless but I'm looking for a place where I won't get stabbed - any thoughts? I'm not looking to pay more than £800/900 unfurnished so I don't have that much.

So far looked into:

Woodgreen
Cricklewood
Dalston

Anyone living in London give me some opinions. Cheerz!

You could have a look around Shephards Bush, Hammersmith or, as Quantumdefect mentioned; Whitechapel.
I would imagine you can find plenty of 1 bed apartments/studio flats for £800/month.

If you haven't already, I would suggest looking on this website to see what you can find.

Rent is brutal over there, thats a 3bed 2 bath inground pool subdivision house rental here. And thats less than a mile to beachfront.

Honestly i wouldnt move to whitechapel if i was being paid 800 p/m, its the only place ive ever been in england that ive been racially abused... i guess it depends on your ethnicity tho, if your indian asian you should get along fine in whitechapel, im a white englishman so yeah areas like hammersmith and whitechapel are comletely out of the question for me...

I've a mate who works in London, he's a contractor doing some work on the Olympic Stadium and rather than fork out loads of cash on monthly rent for a dingy flat, he managed to get a cheap upstairs room for about £400 a month in some Pub.

The noise isn't too bad, and the foods cheap and he can get a relaxing beer after work then just walk upstairs to bed. [thumbup]

Don't be shilly.

I'm not expecting anything nice for my price but I would like to keep my spleen until I can afford something a bit more favourable. I've also been looking around Turnpike Lane/Finsbury park but I think it's a tad expensive for me, especially with my girlfriend not having a job yet.
