Default Just got back from Road America this weekend.
Sadly, a last minute fuel pump failure meant I didn't take my car up there or get to run it. However, thanks to some good friends I was able to hit the track in the following cars.

Since i didn't have my own car, I spent much of the day lending my time to different things. Spent most of Friday and sat. morning handling Tech checkin for cars, then spent tons of time handling grid control for each race session. Lining the cars up, getting track passes from drivers, finding instructors for new drivers...etc.. It was fun, there were lots of cool cars there. Including a 1001rwhp Ultima GTR, that was a crazy car to watch, 187mph down the front straight and some insane brakes.

The Viper, what can I saw but that was an experience. Massive traction, no drama at all, but insane torque. I swear he ran most of the course in 4th gear because of its incredible power down low. The sound it makes was ungodly loud though. When we were going through the Kink despite having a helmet that muffled noise some my ear drum took a beating from the echo of the exhaust off the concrete barriers

I can personally verify that a stock Corvette C6 Z06 will nail about 165mph on the front straight at Road America. The driver of the blue C6Z was insanely skilled. He was awesome to watch as he punished both the car and the track.

The driver of the Camaro also had an amazing feel for the car and the track. He knew EXACTLY how hard he could push it, and even played with it on the Carousel, constantly blipping the throttle to show me where the limit was.

A guy I met up there also had a TransAM GTA like me. But due to some oil let go by the car in front of him on a blind uphill left hand bend lost the front end into a wall, hard. He's got thousands of miles, but anything can happen on a track when people are pushing cars hard.

There are more pics below, and more as various people at the event upload their pics.

Awesome. I have that track on my simulator (GTR2) and have run it several times, neat track. Looks like you had a really good time, congrats!

One day I'd love to run my car at Laguna Seca on a track day (couple of hours from me), but I'll probably never get around to it.

Never ran, he came to watch. I did hear him get on it once he left the complex though.

Its not in the pics, but we did have a stripped to the bone R33 Skyline GT-R though.

It was sweet. Had some issues with his boost controller though, came into the pits twice after it pegged 40psi.

We had 5 casualties though.

2 motors that blew up, 1 transmission, and 2 cars that had an unfortunate conversation with a wall. The Walls won. All drivers walked away though.

The two cars were the one TransAm I posted, and a Evo 8. Evo was totalled, head on with the barrier about 100mph coming out of Turn 13b. Came over the ridge, caught some air, overcorrected and when the wheels got traction it sent the driver straight into the wall.

Nice! Shame you didn't get to drive yourself, it's quite an experience.

I know Road America from Forza and Race Pro, don't like the track too much myself. Too many long (read: boring) straights! [surrender] This weekend I'm going to see the World Superbikes races at Assen, and next month I'll be riding my motorcycle on track again. Can't wait!

The straights are MUCH shorter in real life. Especially in a Viper SRT-10 or a Corvette C6 Z06.

Wicked fast cars.
