I personally have no concern about the safety of grocery-store seafood, but I don't eat seafood very often. Rarely fish (and usually only deep-fried cod or halibut), and occasionally shrimp and clams. Fish is too expensive to eat on a regular basis, and it just doesn't taste as good as pork or beef.

LOL Ironic... The former fattest state in America eats the healthiest seafood (not healthiest prepared).

i love seafood, but only eat it when I know it's tip top and fresh. I have eaten at plenty of sketchy sushi restaraunts though. (stay away from the eel and octopuss)[rofl]

It doesn't surprise me in the least. They put lead and other nasty chemicals into children's toys, so did anyone really expect food from these places to be safe? [rolleyes]

Maybe it's where I shop, but I haven't noticed lots of foreign fish.

I would imagine it mostly takes place in your discount supermarkets. Unfortunately, people demand cheaper prices, which results to this. I'll happily pay a few extra dollars to ensure I'm buying good meat and seafood.

I used to buy frozen salmon at Wal Mart, until I started reading the label... ugh. Product of China. Kinda sucks, cause it was a good price, and I eat salmon a few times a week. Oh well, aside from select items, I'm not a big fan of imported food.

just get a fishing liscence and a trout stamp then go up to Erie, tastes pretty much exactly the same, and better value for the dollar.

Oh, I fish all of the time in the summer. I am going to get my license next week. I get some real nice fish in the lakes around here, I need to sharpen my fillet knives.

Watch Food Inc. We are rats in a cage, or at least that's the way they want us.

Seriously I'm not rich, but I buy quality, or go with out. I am not buying this ****. Do your best and go as local as you can. [yes]
