Green phlegm usually signifies an infection of the respiratory system, if you don't have a GP then go to the hospital and ask about the "Out of hours GP unit" they should have a GP able to see you within an hour or so and you can also ask them about registering with a practice.

I wouldn't normally do this, but I'm not registered with a local doctor yet and it's nothing serious, and I know there are a couple of real doctors on here (Please don't answer if your experience is based on watching Doogie Howser)....basically my tonsils are massive and I have a lot of green phlegm. Do I need to go see my GP and get some antibiotics or will it clear up on it's own?

See a doctor you idiot! You've got an infection that 'may' clear up on it's own but may also get a lot, lot worse and require drastic action!
May just need some anti-biotics or surgery.

Or have I just got a cold....it feels like a cold...The point is I am not registered at a doctors here so I would have to go back to my parents, which would mean a day off work. Which I don't really have time for at the moment.

You can make an emergency appointment which gets you seen with a triage nurse but to see a GP you need to be registered with the practice. At least that's what I was told...

Oh right OK then, didn't know that. To my knowledge I've not been registered with a GP for about 8-9 years then, since I never re-registered anywhere after the place I used to be with closed down.

Are you still in Hulme? The MRI has a walk-in centre (this is different to A&E). Just go there, then register at the doctors when you next get a chance.

Things may have changed but oh, 11 year ago I while I was at Uni I also lived with someone in Oxford. I got tonsillitis and rather stupidly didn't get it checked out for a long time the doctor came out on an emergency visit on a Sunday. I also went for a regularly doctor visit after a fall one time that is all while registered in Hertfordshire.

By the way I may not be a doctor and **** I can't even remember the storyline to a single episode of Doogie Howser but I do remember having tonsillitis. By the time I did actually get a doctor to look at it I couldn't hold anything more than water down (I even vomited from Ribena) and I could barely sleep as it would block my airway as soon as I drifted off. If that's what you've got and it might well be get it sorted.

I don't think it's tonsilitis. I've had that when I was a teenager and it was complete hell as you said. I'll go the drop in centre.
