Yea the TV service is too expensive and the cable boxes are utter piles of garbage. How does power boost work? If you use your 20mbps bandwidth for 10 seconds it drops you down to 12? How much of a time does it need to reset? If the poweboost reset time is less than 12mbps/20mbps * 10 s, you could make an intelligent download manager that manually throttles your connection and gets you a sustained throughput faster than 12 mbps. |

Powerboost is 15 down to 12, 20 down to 16 and so on with their other packages.
Powerboost doesn't really happen all that often. Usually, it is when you first start out requiring a lot of bandwidth. It will start out at 15Mb/s and than drops and never really goes back up at least from what I notice. More a long the lines of, you start downloading a file and get some super duper speeds, and Comcast goes "oh sh/t, hes getting to much!" and scales you back down. I actually just learned about this www.xfinity.com and it is very interesting. Seems like you get slightly more for the same $$. Thankfully, for some odd reason, Chattanooga is becoming a huge hot spot, so we get it! Suckers! [thumbup] Seems like I can upgrade to an xfinity package for the same price, get a few more channels, more HD content and speed my internet up from 12/2 (w/o powerboost) to 15/2 (w/o powerboost). Cool. EPB is a leader in Fiber Optics, Comcast has had Fiber here for a while, though not much and now we get xfinity like a handful of HUGE cities just got yet we are so tiny, I really hope and think that Google will at least seriously consider Chattanooga. Whenever Comcast has done their upgrades ever since we got Comcast at 1Mb/s download, Chattanooga is always the first to receive their increases speeds and services. |

I have no problems with Comcast, when i started with them I paid the same as I do now,my d/l speed is literally 12x faster now.
They fairly regularly bump the line speeds up without notification and without a raise in price. I'm sure I wouldn't mind having a faster speed, but as it is I'm not exactly disappointed with a solid 1.5-1.7 megabytes a second download with bursts up to 4.4. Especially since I live in the middle of no where. |

4.4 MBps > 35.2 mbps .... that freaking insane internet speed you got there. ![]() I get higher speeds than advertised for some reason,I've wondered if it's just due to the fact that this is a very small (2000 people) town and there aren't a lot of other people on the line with me. |

Yeah I can see that. Your average download speed is about what I get. Though I don't get bursts like you do. I think the highest that I used to get was 25Mb to 30Mb. Closer to 30Mb on good days. Though it has scaled back a lot. Don't really notice SpeedBoost really. Speedboost has really scaled back a lot for me. Might be cause traffic out in this area might be increasing, so they could be limiting its potential. Though when speedboost first came out, it was crazy b*lls fast for a minute or 2.

Around there. It takes a couple minutes to install a full DVD size game from Steam, those are the largest files I grab, otherwise it finishes before I can click open typically. Basically think of it like being on a gigabit lan but with the internet. |
