Hey guys,
I'm thinking about getting a short prime lens for my 1000D Rebel XS. Something at the most 28mm, and at the least 24mm. Now, I'm on a tight budget, Are there any alternative brand 24mm primes that will work on a Canon EF/EF-S mount? I think my best bet might be a used Canon 24mm 2.8, but I'm looking for alternatives. |

I don't know how easy they are to get hold of, but why not get a Canon 28mm 2.8? They seem to be much cheaper than the 24mm. On your 1.6x cropped sensor they're equivalent of a 45mm on 35mm format. That's just short of what was traditionally a standard 50mm lens.
Unless you want the wider angle of the 24mm, the Canon 28mm seems like a sensible purchase for the price. It would be a nice, lightweight, general purpose walkaround lens. Fairly interesting article about standard lenses: http://blog.dpreview.com/editorial/2...dard-lens.html |
