Default Adapters for 1.6x crop sensor DSLR's?
I've got a nift-fifty (Canon 50mm EF prime) for my 1000D, which has a 1.6x crop sensor. The 50mm acts as a 80mm(!) on my camera.

I'm wondering if there are any adapters or anything similar to get me a smaller reach, somewhere close to actual 50mm. Am I out of luck? Or should I just get a 35mm? 80mm is quite restrictive for what I am doing.

Sure could use one of them round here.

Yeah unfortunately Full Frame is the only way to go Oblisk if you want true 50mm from your lens.

Darn. I would get a 35mm prime but they're a good $200 more than the 50mm...

If you're wondering why noone has released what you're talking about (a SLR telecompressor) it's because:
a) Kodak has a patent on it
b) They probably couldn't make a universal one (only 1 for each focal length)

I have the 35L (f/1.4) and it's one of my favourite lens.

The non-L wide angle primes are kinda bad though (to me at least), so prepare to spend some money on good primes.

Nope, nothing you can do.

Question is what are you actually trying to do...

A 50mm lens on a crop camera is a good head/shoulders portrait lens, provided it's fast. Not so good as a universal lens. FOV doesn't cut it.

Tell us what you want to do with it, we'll tell you what to get.

Basically I need something shorter. I shoot a lot in tight indoor rooms, and 80mm literally restricts me severely. I'm thinking of getting the cheap 28mm 2.8 primes used. I think I can find it $100 secondhand, hopefully
