They need to become just another set of REAL Pirates.
Go out there packing heat (guns) and capture these boats. Their ransom could be making it illegal for Japan, japan boats and citizens to whale hunt instead of monies. Could have used that $5million to pay some Somali Pirates to make sure that they capture some Japanese vessels. Somalis keep the ransom money, while also declare they want Japan whaling illegal. Somalis give the boat back for the ransom, but the anti-whalers keep the crew for exchange of new anti-whaling laws. Whatever they do, they need better tactics than what they are doing now. They are doing nothing to change policy or laws, which is what they need to be doing. Not attacking random ships that they see. If your going to attack ships, attack with projectiles that kill, not aggravate. |

Who are we?? Were number one in the food chain, we have intelligence, we run the planet, and we as people can decide what to do and how to do it. How does that statement even make sense? Maybe if you take it out of context it might, but we are talking about Japanese people vs non-Japanese people. Are you saying that the Japanese are lower on the food chain than, for example, the english? |

Wow... Just wow. I'm sorry, but if I'm a moron, you are Arnie from "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." You stated "Who are we to decide what's more suitable?" My answer to this is that we are Human beings, we and for you information that includes the Japanese, all should be able to decide to stick to decisions on when as human beings to stop the constant slaughter of a species. However, you'll have a majority of countries agreeing to and then one or two countries that dont want to because its tradition, they NEED to kill them. My answer to this is bull**** if anything they really can't be arsed to learn something new. Very similar to the Poppy farmers in Afghanistan who are trying to learn farming however its not going to succeed due to a) cannot be arsed to learn something new not to mention the lazyness of humans not wanting to do it b) its not as profitable enough for them. The same applies to Whalers, they can't be arsed to learn something new or change their ways. The only solution is force, force them to stop doing it. Fine them, send them to prison, until they learn that its no longer worth doing. |

You simply cannot compare the slaughter of Whales and Dolphins to the slaughter of other animals that are bred for human consumption.
The fact that in the western hemisphere we breed cattle, sheep, chickens, goats etc and feed them, nurture them and fatten them up and slaughter them to eat does not compare to the Japanese who are Hunting a "Wild animal" that is not bred in captivity in huge numbers. How do they know how many surviving whales of a certain kind are still alive in the worlds oceans, without taking the chance that the next one they kill could be the last surviving member of that species. Do they check whether the one their killing is male or female before they Harpoon it? I doubt it. Without, breeding whales in captivity like you would any animal that humans rely on as a food source, and increasing its numbers that way, then they can't possibly tell when they will kill too many and make its kind extinct. With regards to the Australians, Do you have a Navy? If so, The next time some whaling fleet strays into your waters illegally and starts whale hunting, Just blast the B@stards out of the water, That's what Iran would do and they get away with pretty much anything at the moment. And this thread is heading for a locking, this anti-american and anti-British rivalry does no one any favours and just makes the people who are slinging mud look like Spoilt Children. [yawn] |

if you want to argue the `point` of whaling then the latest comment from the australian PM should hold some weight:
We, if we cannot resolve this matter diplomatically, will take international legal action. I'm serious about it, I would prefer to deal with it diplomatically, but if we cannot get there, that's the alternative course of action. [112] Australian PM Kevin Rudd, 2009 http://tvnz.co.nz/world-news/austral...llenge-3283925 now part of the whaling zone is also part of the terrortorial waters (200mile) claimed by australia - and after following the japanese fleet , he made the above comment - that and another sourse claimed that a `full on commercial , for profit whaling operation was in progress` |
