Why do you prefer component? With component, the digital video signal is converted to an analog signal, once it hits the display it is then converted back to a digital signal adding in needless conversions and causing needless image degradation. cant be arsed to explain (been up all night) but this explains quite a lot for and against both types of connection. degradation is negligible TBH |

Some rather dated info but an interesting read. Anyway, nowadays with upscaling and resolution limitations, color space support, audio support, and 24p playback, HDMI trumps component by a decent margin. Comparing component vs. HDMI on my systems the difference goes from a marginal increase to a fairly substantial boost in color quality and image accuracy and sharpness going from component to HDMI between multiple sources.

component is an old but still very capable Interface, but alas as you said and I suspect that some manufacturers are purposely not designing and making HD tv's with full HD Component support which is a shame because I prefer Component its almost as if they are trying to ween us off it. |
