Seem's to be the hottest phone right now. I know like 6 people who bought up straight up ($500!) and all say it's awesome.

Blackberry's are good if your main point of your phone is to use it for email, but in other areas there are a lot of better phones on the market (I have one at work).

People complain about iPhones being locked down in terms of what you can do with them, well blackberry's are a lot worse.

Exactly. The only reason why they did not include wifi is so they can lock you down to their own push email service.

Idk about over there but here wifi isn't really that important if your on verizon/sprint because their high-speed data networks reach almost everywhere.

I live in a city centre where there is 100% 3G coverage. Even so I find wi-fi to be far more responsive.

Chris - I can use my exchange push email over 3G....I think I may be missing your point.

I've never really noticed a difference between 3g and wifi. Then again, I don't do an entire lot of web browsing on my phone.

Mainly it's the latency that's a pain in the arse on 3G. You can wait 20 seconds or so for a page to start loading. I think that is more to do with O2's heavily over-saturated network though.

you can, but in most cases its faster and cheaper to use wifi. Equipping this phone with wifi would increase the chance of people moving away from blackberry's push email service.

Then again - I don't know the details of their system. All I know is a couple of my colleagues have blackberry's and it costs our company a fortune so they can get email on the move. I take a netbook with me, use wifi and its all free.

Oh it's a rip off. We give everyone iPhones because As well as the £10 a month for an exchange mailbox we would have to pay another £10 a month on top for the blackberry enterprise license. I'm not sure why they are so popular either. The screens are mostly small compared to the iPhone and I can't see any better email handling than the 3G/3GS.

I think it's more to do with cost that they have omitted wi-fi. They take it off all their cheap phones so I'd guess it's a cost thing.

IIRC we don't pay nearly as much for our phone plans as you do.

I'm in the UK. On a non-smartphone you can get unlimited minutes and texts for £20 per month, including a free phone.

The most popular iPhone tariff is £35 per month and comes with 600 minutes and 500 texts.

I have a Blackberry 8900 which seems pretty similar to me. It's got wifi though which is a major plus. No 3G but im never in coverage of that.

Rim's browser sucks and the interface is antiquated, but nothing beats a blackberry when it comes to messaging, customization, and stabilization.

Agreed! I used to help support Blackberry's at work, and they really are not all that [thumbdown]
