What have you ever used a middle mouse button for? And I'm not taking the mickey, I'm genuinely curious as I use computers all day, every day and I have never found any use for a middle button.
FYI on XWindows (i.e. UNIX) since the dawn of time, you can highlight text with the left mouse button, paste with the middle, no need to touch the keyboard or fanny about with context menus.

Simples.

Firefox has the option to middle click on the page to drag-scroll it up and down, I guess it's off by default though. The mouse gestures extension also uses it to trigger the gestures.

I find it funny that Apple produced a one button mouse to 'make things simpler' then had to play catch up and implement context menus using the control key, and have had to do the same here to zoom the screen. I guess they ran out of one and two finger gestures. If only they'd had a middle button.

Their previous mouse had a middle button and a side button so a total of 4 buttons in total.

To be honest I've always rested one hand on the mouse and the other on the keyboard. I can use keyboard shortcuts quickly enough not to bother with middle buttons and the like. Plus, with my massive cricket bat fingers I need as few buttons as possible.

2 things to say:

1. I love my new Magic Mouse. Kenetic scrolling is a pure pleasure to use and the responsiveness of the thing is fantastic.

2. I do see me missing middle click but any keyboard commands that replace it will have to do for now.

I'm finding right clicking a pain in the arse. I use it a lot in firefox to open link in a new tab and if your hand is resting on the mouse it has a tendency to detect a left click. No such problem if you lift your hand off before clicking but that's annoying. I need to get my technique down.

Thats the problem their last mouse had and the reason why their mice are awful.

What's weird is that I didn't have this problem for the first day or two...

Middle click + firefox = A match made in heaven. Any mouse that does not offer this is automatically culled from consideration. That's just me.

What a magical mouse, what about accidental clicks when you first get to the Mac and put your hand on the mouse?

You have to physically click it down like a normal mouse.

It isn't a touch click like on a trackpad, the front of the mouse clicks just like any other mouse. [yes]

Actually, the whole of the mouse understands left/right physical clicks.

I just did a left click from the arse end of the mouse and it registered it.[shocked] Right click works too.

Seems pointless...Where are my buttons to browse forward and backward? Middle Mouse Button?

And if it's anything like that other mouse (mighty mouse)? The right clicking works like **** half the time. I'll take separate buttons.

If you'd watched the video you would have had all those questions answered....

To scroll just move your finger around the top of the mouse to go in any direction. Left click just click the top left where the button normally would be, same for right click. To go back / forward just slide two fingers left or right across the top of the mouse.
