A 5 tonne truck at full acceleration is a touch more than a nudge! The way pallet racking is made is that if any of the vertical supports buckle due to a side impact, the down force of all the pallets on it crushes the weakened vertical support (You can see how the racking bulges before coming down) and this causes it to pull horizontally on the attached horizontal bars that the pallets sit on, and that then pulls on the next attached vertical support, of which buckles, and then its pulls on the next row of horizontal bars, and this buckles the next vertical support! It is literally like dominoes! One falls down, it takes the next one out, the only difference is that each dominoe is attached to each other!

Nah, the ratings on that type of shelving is quite surprising - we use similar ones at work, and other places I've worked.
