As I work in a huge warehouse, with levels upto 7 high full of 1.2 tonne pallets of water, I dont find that funny at all. [thumbdown] |

Not funny... it's easily done... nearly did it myself at at a previous job. Bent the rack to **** just with a slight glancing blow on my first night.
Most people don't realize how heavy a fork lift truck really is... so even a slow moving impact can do a lot of damage. That machine probably weighed over 5 tons... so not surprised the rack collapsed. here's another video of something similar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ezI_LLOTVw and here's a car getting hit by a "little" reach truck http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MrD127Wf2co |

Bleeding heck! Those are funny, but in a quite scary way!
Looks like the guy on the left hit the wrong pedal. Problem with those racks is they're very strong and stable UNTIL they're damaged as the beams will loose all resistance to bending and once they start they'll tend to collapse completely - you've got to bear in mind that those pallets would be around 1 ton each, so the bottom buckled beam would have had 10-20 tons on it! The cages are usually intended to protect against falling objects from shelves or pallets - don't think they're designed to protect from shelves? Fortunately, looks like the guys would be OK - well, maybe not the one on the left as he may be facing a pretty big bill! Seen the second one before - similar thing - the racks are strong vertically but week hprizontally and once they go - well, there's a LOT of weight on there! Simple operator error again - he should have checked the clearance first - probably could have lifted it over the obstruction, although that's generally a bad policy - moving with an elevated mast - this sort of thing can happen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn0eO...1&feature=fvwp Haven't seen the third before, but that's just the sort of thing that we were warned against - except other forklifts! Doorways are bloody dangerous! However, that looked like a simple case of the forklift operator not looking where he was going! As has been mentioned, even small forklifts are damned heavy - good illustration here of what I mean http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zRZrG...eature=related as they need counterweights close to the rating of the forklift! I had a roadway partially collapse under me once - it was only a 7.5 T 'lift at that! Compilation here - I expect a few guys were fired over these! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8TcZPqdP85o&feature=fvw NOT SO FUNNY STUFF! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4YXl...eature=related |
