DON'T GET ANGRY with them - it'll just get them thinking you've anger issues and make them even more determined to get you!
Sadly, child abuse is not uncommon down here, almost all of it amongst the poorer, darker skinned people! I strongly suspect this will be an 'anonymous concerned citizen' that has a grudge against you OR your wife is going to leave you and is putting some ground work in (unlikely, but it does happen). All you can do is get some legal advice and make sure you are honest and show there is no foundation to the accusations! Sadly, whilst many of these people are good, honest workers looking out for the children, there are also a lot who are, to be blunt, nutters, who assume where an accusation has been made there must be grounds for it - with these nutters, even a simple thing like speaking to a legal service can be seen as a sign of guilt. I have a lot of time for the former as they do a horrible job - but just have contempt for the latter as they cause a lot of harm! Anyway, I would wish you good luck and more good luck getting information about the accusations and person making the claim! |

Unless they have video evidence of seen it themselves or have pictures of you hitting or abusing your kids, they cannot take them away. Unless laws are different there my mum never properly looked after my younger brothers, she even once left me looking after them for 3 days with no money and barely any food. I had to feed them and go with very little food myself for 3 whole days. Yet docs (same as child protective services) don't do stuff all. But this was when my mum was on the sh*t and wasn't herself, she's changed a lot since then, for the better. Anyways, don't worry. Get yourself a lawyer but not straight away. Wait till they come around again and see what's up. Your kids will likely tell you everything that was spoken to them by the child protective services people. That way you can get an idea of what they have against you.

What legal right do they even have to enter your home and speak with your children? Who's to say they are even CPS agents?
Ask them to come back with a warrant or police presence to ensure the safety of your family. If anything, it will make you look like a good, concerned parent (which I believe you to be anyway [yes]). I don't know anything about what CPS agents can and cannot do, but I would be very weary about letting them do anything with out knowing exactly what was said. [cursing] |

My memory of this is rather vague but iirc CPS can interview your children without your permission based on a "tip (usually BS)" of child abuse. We briefly covered CPS stuff in school but my best advice is to keep your cool and be as cooperative as possible. Yes it's absurd that someone is running their mouth but your best bet is to just show them your a good parent by being concerned.

I have calmed down and spoke with my wife. We think our daycare is who did this. We just put our kids in this daycare about a month ago. My daughter is 2 1/2 and my son is 8 months.
My daughter on Monday was running though the house and tripped falling face first on the floor putting a mark on her face. They asked my wife about it and she explained where try proceeded to not even respond to my wife. Of course then cps shows up. I'm pissed at this school. My kids are very happy. Are they going to call cps on my everytime my kid has a accident. This happens with 2 year olds. I think they should be looking at other factors since abuse can be Seen in the childs behavior and emotional state. Kids who are abused don't have aconstant smile on thier face. Once this is over I'm sure I will tell them what I think and my kids will no longer attend this day care. |

You'd be surprised at what can happen simply by just accusing someone of doing something. An accusation can go a long way only after someone has been convicted of a crime or been found guilty. For example, the law can take action against a known drug user if the user is "suspected" of dealing with drugs. However, the law can not go after someone suspected of drugs, who has a clean record, until after they have found evidence to convict such person. Until that has happened, you must provide substantiated evidence in order to take action against someone. From what I understand, dealing with children, there are a lot of similarities. CPS can not just come in and take children until after they have found substantiated evidence that abuse is indeed happening. However, it would be a whole different story if a person has been convicted of abuse in the past. |

One thing I have learned from working in a probation office is that this is not the case. |
