Default Citibank yanks MasterCards
http://blogs.moneycentral.msn.com/to...stercards.aspx

I just don't know. It seems like these big institutions just don't care what anyone thinks. I just hope the public can return the favor, one day.

I have my MasterCard with Citibank, but I dont have any negative notes in my credit log (or however thats called in English).

So I hope this wont affect me. And if it does, f**k them, I'll get one then from another company. Thought about getting the Amazon.de Credit Card anyway.

Doesn't seem to make any difference - and if you pay your card off, that's huge negative for the Banks. Seems they'd prefer people who run up huge amounts on their cards and then don't pay them.
IMO, seems like THE perfect time to change banks - but get in early as if there's a run on the bank, they may well go under, how sad.

You should read some of the comments. Some people have had the cards canceled for such reasons as "not using the card enough" not owing enough on the cards.....

All sorts of interesting reasons.

Depends how you use them. Credit cards give added protection, if you spend over £100, in this country.

They are bad if a holder of a credit card uses it to make purchases using it as money in credit. So what I mean by that is that If you only have $1000 in the bank and you buy an item that's $2000 and you only make $200pw then you're in bad credit. You're using the card for things you can't truly afford, as you can't pay the card off within that interest free period.

I have never payed interest on my credit cards ever. As they are always paid off every month.

Some then say, well what's the point of a credit card if you don't use it as credit? First of all, you can travel the globe and make purchases online with no problems if you have a credit card. Secondly there are rewards for using a card, now the trap can be that people spend more money simply to get rewards. I don't, I just funnel as much money as I can to turnover onto the card I want to get the reward. Food, bills, even my employers expenses (they pay me back) simply so I can rack up frequent flyer points on the card. Secondly there is no annual fee on the card, so I'm not out of pocket for the reward.

Why not use Debit credit? Well you pay an annual fee for those, there are no rewards and you can't use it for credit if some day in an emergency you really need access to credit money. It's basically designed for those that can't manage money, or those with an income too low to apply for credit. eg Students.

With all that crap I just said. I only use Qantas AMEX and Commbank Master. So I'm good.

The only problem is that some people never use credit cards except for emergencies. Finding out that a card you hardly ever use (but have been paying fees on for years) has been canceled for "not being used enough" has got to be a bit of a slap to people.

Where is the credit risk there?

I'm not saying there is any risk. Those people shouldn't have to have their cards axed! At worst, for those that don't turn over enough cash and pay no fee then they need to use online credit statements or pay for paper ones. But I see no need to close accounts. Seems kind of silly to do so, because one day they might start using the card!

I was just responding to ThouGHtlesS about CC's being bad.
