Default Walmart to offer low-cost wireless service across the U.S.
Hmm, I want to find a reason to hate this.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Freaking awesome. If anyone needs a smack in the face, it's mobile phone companies. Walmart is just the big beast big enough to smack the big phone company beasts. [rofl]

I hope I can keep my same number. And my contract expired a year ago! I'd be ok if my phone company changed rates to match.

I might seriously look into this. It looks like it uses CDMA networks. I have Sprint right now, but I could end up saving a lot of money each month. That $99 Samsung phone is better than the LG Rumor I use. I just need a small phone with QWERTY. Thanks for the info!

hopefully in their plan to take over the world, walmart will also jump into the cable tv/sattelite/internet game

I remember when i used to pay ~$30 a month 10-12 years ago...now I pay 80+, and i don't even have any effing pay channels.

I'm confused, what Samsung phone? I don't see one mentioned in the article and I only see three phones on the walmart website.

I hope they do this in Canada, right now we are facing huge cell phone monopolies and ridiculous contract prices. We almost pay double for cell phone use what they would pay in United States.

considering Walmartīs policies and the way it treats itīs employees (spying on them, listening to phone calls, etc)
I can see them spying on their customers Internet habits as well.
This would be a absolute no go for me. [thumbdown]

Would have to agree with the principle - I'd prefer to pay a bit more for a service and maintain my self respect.
We've a couple of similar companies down here that have cheap hardware, clothing, etc, that I refuse to deal with. They screw their product suppliers, forcing prices that are sometimes below cost!
In general, any companies that have low prices as their primary selling point should be avoided - pay a bit more for service!

That said, seems many of the ISPs over there are short on service anyway!
