haha... I think they call that a marker, not a gun, right? The paintball seems like a blast, but I've never gotten into it.

it is lol yah. They just look so damn cool and fun.

It is also the only thing even remotely close to a handgun that i'd keep in the house. I just can't trust anyone I live with to be near a gun.

I remember the SIG P-226 I had years ago when they were so popular among law enforcement. It was a wonderful wepon but it was like shooting a 9mm brick typical of European designed firearms. HK is is a great gun I had a P-7 too. It was great, but would jam once in while with hand loads that never jammed in the sig.My favorite pistol is my Colt Gold Cup in 45 that i have done much customization work to myself..but once in a while it too jams..I have never had a jam in my XD-40 after many types of ammo.. not one.

Generally yes, you are mistaken; .40 (10mm)
.40 S&W (10x22) and while it's technically 10mm, it's not THE 10mm (10mm AUTO, 10x25) caliber...

Not trying to be anal, but it might confuse some people enough to go get a 10mm glock, and put their eye out with the recoil.
is no more expensive than 9mm
Last I checked, it was at least 50% more expensive than 9mm (more so when it comes to FMJ, with JHP being closer in price).
, but packs more stopping power (something worth considering).
Look up Martin Fackler's studies - while there ARE differences in stopping power of different caliber ammunition, all modern JHP rounds are not nearly far enough from each other in terms of these differences to base your decision on stopping power alone.

Controllability, absence of the cringe response and anticipation of firing, and the ability to fire follow-up shots is far more important than sheer power... otherwise everyone would be firing .454 Casull rounds.
Now, if you want to talk about expesive ammo, try finding .223 (5.56 Nato) for cheap. Right now, the cheapest rounds tend to be around $.50 per round...
300-600 rounds of 5.56 is a good investment if you're in an area that allows you to possess that caliber of a weapon. I generally think it's kind of like buying insurance.

I changed my mind. I now want the Taurus 651 instead. It is also a .357, but with the shrouded hammer and only five rounds. It is just a little bit smaller. I figured if I want to get a gun to carry, this would be a better choice. I'll go get a Ruger P95 or something else for just shooting for fun, another day.

The shrouded hammer allows for singer or double action but at the same time, isn't like a big fish hook trying to grab on to clothes or whatever.

This picture isn't as shiny as the first (the 617), but they're practically the same gun with the same blued finish. I do like the grip on the 617 a little more... has room for the pinky.

Yeah! Is going to be awesome! [thumbup]

I figure this will be my carry weapon. I'll have to go get something else to just go shooting around.

Here is a video of a guy firing one. I don't know if he's using .357 or 38 Special rounds, though.

I test fired a similar one using the 38 special rounds and it wasn't bad. After about 50 rounds though, my hand began to ache a bit.

AH Yep, And if you develop a flinch it is a hard thing to break yourself of..A Charter Arms Bulldog almost ruined me once.(44 special in a small frame revolver). it was painful with full house loads. But you could use 38 special +p loads in that Taurus and work your way up to 357 loads. You will find the muzzle blast fierce in that little 2 inch barrel.

Well, I don't know what to think now. According to the Taurus catalog, the 651 is available, but there is not a gun store around anywhere that has it. The shop I was at earlier said some place in Missouri, but didn't tell me where.

I have the cash and found the gun I want, and now nobody is able to sell it to me. [thumbdown]

I guess I'll keep shopping until I find one or find something else.

If i were you I wouldn't get a wheel gun. Best gun would be compact glock 9 mm, then you could have a reliable weapon that requires little maintence. Also you can carry 33 round magazines in a chopped 9mm! It is sexy and will tear sh!t apart!

If you can find it online for sale, which I did at gunsamerica all you need is a local ffl dealer to have it shipped in for you, which they usually do for a small fee.

Can anyone enlighten me why revolvers are still around and were not replaced by magazine fed weapons?

There still around mainly for large calibers for hunting. I guess some people still like shooting revolvers too

I think their are many people, especially old school law enforcement who will never trust their life to a automatic weapon Also there is the historical aspect of revolvers. They are our American heritage. The younger brothers just wouldn't seem right if they were all packing glocks. But mostly it is because when you pull the trigger they always go bang.

I've always wondered how much that fee was. What are we talking about 1%? 5%?

It's not a percentage (unless they're shafting you...). Typically it's a "usage fee" for making use of their FFL license, which they have to pay for. I've paid everywhere from nothing to $125. Also, make sure you pay for the golden blanket UPS delivery, since FedEx are gun-hating libtards.

Fun stuff... I am now entering uncharted territory... at least, for me. I have found the Taurus 651 and have started the purchasing process. Right now I'm waiting for FFL Dealer to do his thing.

I have no idea how this FFL dealer and buying online is going to work really. I mean, they ship the gun to the FFL dealer and he charges $25.00... other than that, I'm clueless. I guess I'll see how it goes.

I have a couple of friends at work that do it all the time. Works great. They have never had a problem.

The Sigs are awesome, but that P250 in the 9mm is about $300 more than the ones I posted. I have no doubt it's awesome though... just check this out. I love the way it looks.

I am trying to stay around $400.00. I was quoted $380 on the Taurus 617 by a local gun shop... that is, once they find one. I visited or called 5 different stores today and nobody has the 617 in stock.

The 9mm is fine... I don't want to get shot by a .22!!! But, the .357 revolver rocks my socks. Besides a shotgun, this will be my first gun.... handgun. I even like the Walther P22, but I'll get that later when I just want something to go shooting cans with.

The one thing all the guns I've listed have in common is the $400 price range. Maybe i'll save up for a proper 1911 later on, though.
Don't get the Walther P22.

I've had one for 3 years and it's pretty crappy. Feed problems, jamming, doesn't feel good.

I would have already gotten rid of it if I didn't have a .22 silencer for it. Get a Ruger Mk. III or something.
