Default Cosmos: Hawking and Sagan (Glorius Dawn)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSgiX...layer_embedded

Reminds me of what I once believed a scientist was, and stood for, and what the human race could be.

Can that sort of optimism still survive?

When I get upset about humans, when I get upset that I wont live long enough to see future discoveries, and when I get upset in general.... watching Carl Sagan's videos makes me feel better. He has the talent to share/transfer his excitement/optimism to the user.

instead of b*tching about how bad humanity is etc.. one can start by showing example.. that definitely isn't whining and moaning about the rest.. lets worry about ourselves first instead of trying to judge everyone else. so many people say they'd like to see a better world without doing anything about it...[rolleyes]

nice remix vid.. hawking feat lol

But how? You sound like Gandhi "Be the change you wish to see...". I set a great example but it doesn't work I've never used Auto-tune, I had a Korg MS-20 and I didn't even use the vocoder and yet people still make songs using Auto-tune.

Good video.

I still can't help but chuckle a little at the fact that he used electronic synths on Mr. Sagan's voice but when it comes Mr. Hawking's turn......

You have to be a particular sex to like Imogen heap? Cher and Imogen have both used auto-tone, so at least they are relevant to the thread!

It seemed like an amalgam of influences to me. Carl Sagan and Mr (Fred) Rogers always had, to me, a homey similarity. And of course some people have pointed out that in this video, Mr Sagan sounds a bit like Kermit the frog.

All three of them characters that created a lasting rapport with their audiences while they attempted to teach or inspire the children (of whatever age) [yes]

Well there are always different tastes. [yes]

As I said to somebody else recently, it would be pretty boring if we all agreed on everything. What would there be to talk about?

An interesting point though, is that while Mr Sagan was an avowed skeptic and agnostic, he did not feel the need to denigrate others with different beliefs. He stated his case calmly, logically, and as persuasively as he could, but entirely without acrimony.

I mention this because over at the video thread, some of those who say they respected and admired Mr Sagan are now on an angry, name calling attack against those who have expressed other thoughts, primarily about religion.

I can't help but think that they have missed some of the most important points made by the person they say they admired so much. Perhaps there would be a benefit from contemplating the words from Pale Blue Dot again?

Whatever............. Perhaps its me who doesn't get it.
