So a mate of mine wants to jail break his phone but hes using firmware version 3.1. I know you can jailbreak this version but I can't seem to find an easy tutorial and most are for mac only. So I was wondering if there is a way to downgrade firmware to 2.2.1 so I can jail break it easy.
I tried using iTunes but I get an error (20) during the process and it f*cks up the phone and I have to do a restore which puts it back to 3.1 (even though it says factory defaults) |

Why do you want to go all the way back to 2.2.1? The last jail breakable version was 3.0.1. The iPhone Dev Team are working on jailbreaking 3.1 for PCs. EDIT: nvm, found it ![]() |

You can jailbreak your 3.1 iphone with the 3.0.1 method, just use a 3.1 firmware.
Altho.... after I jailbroke mine used it for a few weeks but saw battery life decrease tremendously[thumbdown] So i put it back to stock 3.1.... but SOMEHOW I still have the battery % meter beside the battery icon, even ofter restoring 3 times 3 different ways with 3 new firmwares lol It dosnt bother me at all, actually its nice to have its just funny it's there after a restoring completely and its NOT a 3gs, just a 3g (which isnt supposed to have a %) |

I jailbroke the iphone on 3.0.1 firmware and I must say it's a LOT cr@ppier then the 2.2.1. I tried to restart the Spring Board and the damn phone froze, forced a reboot and it got stuck in recovery mode. Restored to 3.1 and tried 2.2.1 and all I got was recovery mode., restored to 3.1 and went to 3.0.1 again and I managed to get it working although I had to use a force reboot.
Downgrading from 3.1 is a serious pain in the @ss. But now it's working it's all good ![]() |
