Default The Desert Runner: Ford F-150 Raptor SVT
http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ive/index.html

Only complaint is that it still uses the 5.4L Triton. They could have at least supercharged the damn thing. Though don't worry, this winter it is supposed to get the 6.2L Boss V8 which is rumored to make 400/400. Some rumors even have it at 425/425.

Border Patrol has already ordered 10 of these bad boys.

well,
Uhm,..

I think itīs a nice truck, but rather useless for 95% of the population around here.
Most of the land here is used for agriculture and they wouldnīt like seeing me or anyone else racing along their fields.
But if i were to still live in Tx, then i could imagine having alot of fun with that thing

Why do you need such a big gas guzzling 4WD with such an inefficient V8? I drive this because it is a better 4WD and it get's more BHP per litre [thumbup]

BTW I'm posting this as I drive

I'd be shutting my dacks if I was running from border patrol and they had that F150!

It's the potential 5% that they'd be targeting, even 0.05% would be a good sales result, I expect

Is that car for real? It would be awesome to take on the beach. My gf's dad once got a car and completely stripped it (only thing remaining was the wheels which where custom fitted by her dad, the car exterior and the car seats (also custom fitted. The only way it works was by walking inside the car and rolling it. They once used it through a KFC drive through[rofl]. He eventually added some pedals and a chain to it then sold it.

I'd be willing to bet that a high percentage of these trucks will be sold to people that have no intentions of ever going offroad anywhere.

Exactly what I think.

And US car companies wonder why they lose a colossal amount of money?

huh?? You just agreed that a high percentage will be sold to those that never go offroad? Surely that would be a far larger market than those that truly need a offroad capable vehicle.

Nice specs but you forgot to mention it weighs 3000kgs..
Meaning a toyota avensis weighing 1500kg (also 400nm).. will handle better, be faster, be cheaper.. etc etc

The first batch for the year with the 5.4L has already been sold off. 1,500 units.

I'd suspect that Ford will be able to sell a decent amount of these. They think, doing their research, that this SVT would sell better than a street performance based SVT. I think that they went the right direct, because they already have the Harley-Davidson S/C Edition and the Saleen models that crank out 450hp and 500ft.lbs, that are still slow and still don't sell very well at all.
I don't think actually that I have ever seen a Saleen F-150 which look bada$$ and I have never seen a Rousch modified truck either which push the same power. If Ford made a street SVT, it would have been no different than these trucks, maybe slightly better.

Who cares if the user keeps it in the Garage. The thing is bada$$ and owners can do whatever they want with it. Its a free country.
Ford sells so many F-150's, I am sure that if Ford is losing money off this SVT, their sales of other F-150's greatly make up the difference in losses on the SVT. Though, this truck I am sure will be the only F-150 that will sell ABOVE MSRP.

Side question: When a dealer is able to sell items above MSRP, does the dealer get to keep on that extra money, or does a percentage half to go back to the car manufacture?

I'm saying the car is all about looks/status (like a hummer)

Stop applying your situation to everyone else. Alot of these people that care about looks/status have boats/horses/car trailers etc. Using an F-150 SVT to tow things is alot more practical than an avensis

If they keep it in the garage, how are they burning fuel?

Not like this thing eats 4 million barrels of gasoline an hour. Lame reasoning.

The Hummer H2 and H3 though, are expensive as hell, and and not nearly as capable as this thing is. Heck, the H2 and H3 barely can compete in their own classes.
This SVT is in a class of its own!

$33k for a baseline H3 and $61k for a baseline H2 that are honestly, pretty poor performers. If it was all about looks and status, it wouldn't perform the way that it does and have aftermarket modifications already bolted on.

Also, it was all about status, I would imagine that this thing would need to cost a little bit more, as $40k in the car market, especially for something like this, isn't very much money.

"OMG it burnz so much fuel it will kill us all!11!!!!1!!!" -none of this please... this is not a discussion about oil or politics... it IS about this truck... so keep it about the topic... ya know.. the truck.

With that said...

I think it looks awesome![thumbup]

I always thought that SVT versions were supercharged, i know the Lightning was not, but the SVT Lightning was.

Although I would probably never own one since I'm in the mountains, if i was out somewhere open and flat it would be a fun truck to have.
