Default 400 Years Of the Telescope: A Journey of Science, Technology And Thought
I recently just came across this trailer:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww-qwI2w6r8

A documentary following the history of the telescope from the days of Copernicus to recent findings from the Hubble
Telescope; 400 Years of the Telescope opens in 17th century Florence, Italy, with Galileo training his spyglass on the heavens and discovering that Jupiter has four moons; Venus has phases like the Moon; and most shocking of all: the Earth is not the center of the universe.
Can be bought: here or here

Might be worth a look

The telescope changed the way religious people think of God, lol. That's science for you, proving facts and forcing religion to come up with other bs.

Anyways, looks nice, I read a book about telescopes in my Physics class. I am curious though, is the larger the telescope the further and faster you can zoom in on galaxies and other planets?

Lets not get into religion please.. :P

_FAKE_; the larger the telescope the more light you can recieve so the further you can see. You can only see objects by either light reflecting off of them like planets or by the object emanating light like stars.

Yea I know that much, the Hubble Telescope took something like 3+ months doing nothing but collecting light until it could zoom in to the centre of the universe (at least i think it was 3 months). Was really cool imo.

Is it expensive though to create/make large telescopes? I always wondered why they couldn't make one a lot larger then the Hubble and put it out in space. but the new one is meant to do just that right, but is infrared.

Very interesting movie..quite cool how they made the zooming in and out of universe to see multiple galaxies, stars etc..

Anyway, one guy said that the velocity which universe expanses every second does accelerate which we didn't believe before..is that proven now? I have been searching a little about this lately and it seems it is, quite remarkable.
