Default ip address doesn't match website only on this comp
The website I'm trying to look at has an ip address like this (example): 85.192.72.94
However the computer I'm using sees the ip as: 85.192.72.9
As you can see the last number just drops and it opens a different website. it happens when I type the normal website name and when I look it up in google. All the other computers on the network don't have this problem, neither does my home computer. I tried to change the comps IP address, renew it, flush the dns and everything I could think of. What can I do and why do I get this problem?

I assume it's using the same DNS as the other computers on the network?

Try setting a manual DNS for testing, use OpenDNS 208.67.222.222.

Anything funny in the Window's hosts file? Other sites affected or just this one?

Check to see if the DNS servers specified are different. Perhaps it was manually specified differently on that one computer while the others get it automatically.

You could also check your hosts file in you windows directory. Any names specified in it w/ ip addresses will always take priority over all DNS servers.

Edit: idchoppers beat me while i was typing =(

I looked at the host file and nothing out of the ordinary. Now another computer on the network seems to have the problem too. We have a cisco pix 501 firewall and I was thinking of resetting it. If that would help. However I don't know how hard it is to set up.

Did you try:
  • the lmhosts file?
  • run "flushdns"?
  • run "nbtstat -R"?
  • changing the DNS?
