You need some analog video input!
Best way would be to buy some USB or PCI card for this! I bought one of these: http://www.drivecity.de/product_info...nitstelle.html They are rather cheap now, I got it for 45€, but these were like 99€ back then...then you take a free tool for video recording/editing (there's a rather good free tool called "VirtualDub"), and you can start recording... |

Thanks for all the replies!
You need some analog video input! How about something like this? I got one of these, took a bit of messing around but worked brilliantly, very cheap too [thumbup] do you have a dvd recorder or freeview box with a hard drive? If you have a Video-in option on the GPU you should be able to record the signal coming from a VCR. |

My dad has loads of old holiday tapes, or from birthdays, weddings and whatnot.
The tapes seem to get old though, as the video quality gets worse and worse. Now he wants to copy them onto HDD or DVD. He doesnt have an "all in one" player or DVD recorders and such. Just a (relatively new) computer with the regular in/out connectors. So, Is there a way to connect a camcorder or an old video player to the computer somehow, and copy the videos to HDD? If possible without buying expensive hardware/software. Wie already tried to connect the camcorder via Firewire to the PC, but somehow the Windows Movie Maker doesnt recognize it. It says "no compatible video signal blabla..." I really have never done any research on this and have no idea. So please excuse the (possible) stupid question. Thanks for any help! Edit: The computer has Vista Ultimate 32bit installed. |
