Default Another websites gimmick that gets on my balls
When I have to click my country on a map instead of getting a dropdown list.

It usually means a lot more graphics to load and render and for people in small countries, it is a pain in the ass to hit the right one.

I think I need to write a blog about shitty websites and website features.

I agree with him to some extend: i live in the netherlands.. on some click maps its impossible to get it right the first time

But if they make a decent map i'm happy. Hate the long long list of country names.

Most ideal map i found is one which zooms in after a rough selection:

Click europe, zooms in, click The Netherlands.

I find the trouble with the list is that I never know whether I have to scroll to Great Britain, Britain, United Kingdom or England.

Yeah the fact that i have to choose my country as 'United Kingdom' most of the time pisses me off. I class my self as English, i live in England. I have no hate for Wales, Scotland or Ireland but i should be able to have the option of England.

Oh get over it... could be worse. Living in Australia I get the whole "Oceania" crap! I'd much prefer "down under". [rofl]

More annoying, is that on the drop down lists, most of the time 'United States' is at the very top of the list and not filed alphabetically.

Can't people in North America be bothered to scroll down like the rest of us?

I hate those maps too, especially when they put the US kind of up and to the left, instead of the center of the world like it should be.

That or the web designers just realize the US is more important than pissy little places like the UK so they put the best at the top.

So were Britain, Spain, France, the Romans, the Egyptians, the Persians, the Greeks, etc.
Enjoy it while it lasts.

Americans don't think there are any other countries on the planet and can't see the point of scrolling through loads of mythical places to get to their own.

Yeah but you aren't now so you don't get to be first on lists!
