Default Voluntary Human Extinction Movement
The VHEM believe (May we live long and Die out) [thumbdown]

The VHEM believe that we should stop breeding and let the human race become extinct....and let the world return to nature....Thank you very much they can do that and but I don't plan to...

There's no denying though that the biggest threat to planet Earth is humans. We kill and destroy everything in our wake, and are overwhelming the planet. When you consider how many resources a person consumes throughout their life, and how much waste they produce, not having a child is actually the greatest measure of conservation you can commit to.

Wow.. what morons..

Sure, humans have not been great to the planet.. but surely it does not mean we need to wipe ourselves off the planet. Its never to late to fix things (perhaps unless we or the planet is totally dead), so I don't see the point in giving up hope...

But over-population would lead to the destruction of the human race, along with everything else.

Yeah but who gives a crap?

What the hell is the point of returning it to nature? Nature doesn't do anything interesting with it....

Which would you rather see? A tank blow up some other stuff, or watch some stupid squirrels run around in a field?

Tanks are way more interesting thank you

It's a funny old thing really isn't it? I wouldn't really agree with "voluntary extinction", that does seem a bit drastic. But I don't really agree with the idea of just continuing on mindlessly breeding, filling up and consuming the planet and assuming it will all work out fine.

It's a strangely perpetual cycle. There's issue with an "aging population", where most people are old and there aren't enough of the younger generation to support them, so a government will encourage families. But then infrastructure and resources are put under great strain and there's still problems.

Maybe if we keep expanding, technology will save the day. We'll build massive archologies, or start off-world colonies, by virtue of continued expansion, we'll find solutions.

Personally I won't be having children, not in the hopes of leading humanity to extinction, if anything the opposite. Maybe steering us away from our own total destruction. Creating "another mouth to feed" so to speak, seems kind of irresponsible when we can't even properly feed all the mouths we've currently got. That's not to say I object to other people having children, go ahead and do that. Some of us definitely should. But not for me I think. [xmascandle]

Itīs their choice, and whilst i can only applause it (because ffs, the world is full of idiots that just shouldnīt be allow to breed)
Iīve decided to have children and teach them a healthy understanding of how to treat the enviroment.

Im going to crack up laughing If one day I find out he has 5 kids cause he fell head over heals with a sheila and she wanted kids[rofl]

But at the same time I agree over population is not good look at china....But I would never want to live in a society were you can get in trouble for having more then one kid.....

I would like kids one day...sorry to say VHEM but I shall never join your ranks....I mean breeding for no cause is stupid but having kids cause you want them is perfectally fine by me....

But Having them for money or some other stupid reason is cruel.....I Just dont believe that Human Extintion is the way to go.....[thumbdown]

There's no difference in how much we eff up this planet and it will survive. The earth has been here for over 4 Billion years, I hardly think humans can mess it up so much that nature wont be able to take it back once we are gone.

Why would they even put effort in creating such thing as the VHEM?
Do they honestly expect that everyone on earth will read their site and agree with them?

I'm working on my new "Involuntary Human Extinction Movement"

I'm working on building an army of killer robots, but I don't quite have the material yet; I am still shy by about a billion tons of steel.

I think that's under-estimating the power of humans. As far as historical references for "things getting back to normal", we have no precedent to base that on, we don't have a reference for the entire history of a similar species (we, humans, are unique). There are however many examples of humans irreversibly damaging elements of the planet, extinction being the prime example. I believe we do have the power to destroy it, and that power will increase as the volume of humans on Earth also increases.

65 million years ago the planet faced a mass extinction on a global scale where 75% of the earth's lifeforms died. That was not the first time either.
Something always survives and life continues. Life finds a way, as they said in Jurassic Park. Even if there's only bacteria left alive it will still have time to evolve into higher life forms before the sun goes out.

Get out of your room for once and admire the complexity and beauty of life. Humanity can't compete with nature. If you don't want to leave your house:

I dunno about you, but I find many human made things to be far more interesting than what nature has to offer. I do fully support VHEM though. Humans suck. If they all died off the world would be a better place. It's just too bad I care more about myself than the world.
