Default The Wire: Tonight 11:20pm BBC 2
They're starting showing it from the first episode tonight so anyone who hasn't seen it yet (like me) might like to catch it. It's not the usual kind of thing I watch but I've heard it's very good so I might give it a go (neither was Dexter but I heard that was good also, so started watching it and now I'm hooked [thumbup]).

Next episode tomorrow.

i would say the wire is the most gritty, even handed and realistic crime drama i have ever seen. Beside being a crime drama, it was easily the best tv in a decade. They don't pull punches or gloss over this or that, and for every victory the police seem to get, there are 10 defeats. Season 1 focuses on the police perspective of fighting drugs... from there every season the focus of the show shifts so you get to see all sides of the drug war... iirc 1st year Baltamore Police VS Berksdale Drug Gang, 2nd Year Is about the port system and how drugs are shipped into the country, 3rd Year is back to Street for more police VS Bercksdale gang and corruption in politics, 4th Police vs New superviolent drug gang, also shows the perspective of children in school in these drug infested neighborhoods and how hopeless it can be and how they end up playing the "game". 5th, OK, they jumped the shark a bit in believability for me on this season, but i gotta hand it to them, it was a fun watch. Basically, you see the drug war through the perspective of newspaper reporters, plus the overall culmination of of the drug gangs vs the police.

check out this scene... 2 detectives make a break at a old crime scene only using the word f*** to communicate. Lol, what wonderful writing.

If you haven't watched The Wire, your life is unfulfilled.

Loved Season 1 and 2 i liked how it showed alot about the drug dealers and not just mainly the cops side of things.

I think the BBC are shooting themselves in the foot with this one. Putting it on so late ,every day, during the week, and it's not available on the iPlayer.
