Is it possible to use email account to send a fax to other people?

What I meant: Person A uses his/her email account to send a fax to person B, who receives the fax on his/her fax machine (not email account).

Not sure by email, but I know you can do it via SMS.

I used to do it all the time (on O2) all you did was put a 4 digit code infrom of the fax number and send the SMS. Cant remember what it was though.

We use this at work but we use a third party company to provide the conversion.

There are quite a few providers out there that offer the ability to send them an email and it will automatically be converted to a fax and sent across to the recipient's fax machine. Quite useful for when you're out of the office or running a small business. Some of them will even provide you with a toll-free number that other people can send faxes to that will then be converted to email and sent to your inbox.

The nirvana is having a server on the network that is both presented as both a printer (so you select that printer for your document, enter the recipient from your address book and away it goes) or an email gateway that receives emails and then converts them, much like the hosted service.
