I've narrowed my choices to these 2 TV's.
http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-PDP-60...pr_product_top Or http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-LN55A9...5073904&sr=1-9 Which one should i order??[cursing] What bugs me about LCD is the viewing angle... |

The Pioneer is definitely the nicer screen as far as I'm concerned. It'll have slightly better blacks, perfect viewing angles(which that LED LCD won't have), better color accuracy, and it's 5" larger!
The Samsung is nice, but their LED tech is still developing(for example, eventually they want an LED diode for every single pixel on the screen. Right now there's one diode for each group of 20 pixels or so, so there's a little bit of light bleeding). However, if it's a concern to you, the Samsung should take up quite a bit less electricity than the Pioneer. It's definitely the greener set of the two. Still, my vote easily goes to Pioneer. |

And on any LED panel as far as I've read. And that samsung the OP linked is an LED panel. Obviously with any display you want to sit as centered as possible but I doubt anyone in his family or his friends would notice or it would affect their experience. |

Since Pioneer is going out of the TV business in the next year, will their warranty still be valid or will you be screwed if you ever need a factory service?
EDIT: As far as picture quality is concerned, the KURO is leaps and bounds above any LCD. I owned one for two weeks, and once you get it calibrated, it's almost like looking through a window. Insanely realistic picture. The downside is that you might end up with a loudly buzzing unit, and if you do, it's a total nightmare. Sadly, it's not totally uncommon: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=949003 And that's why I only owned it for two weeks. |

LED is just the backlight. At extreme angles sure but the image will be pristine at any normal viewing angles. Are you happy with the viewing angles on your LCoS? I remember there being issues with mine at extreme angles but for a RP TV it had decent viewing angles but no better than a high end LCD. Even with people at the side of the room would have a dimmed image but it was still perfectly watchable. But anyway, have you seen this set in person? My father purchased one, the 46" version, and we were both disappointed with the viewing angles compared to a normal fluorescent backlit LCD. Black levels were fantastic although if you came closer to the screen you could see some slight light bleeding between a very bright object and a pitch black object. Not bad or anything but you could notice it up close. Even CNET complains that the "picture washes out and discolors from off-angle": http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-t...-33182079.html Plasma's, especially high end ones like the Pioneer, are known for their fantastic viewing angles as well. |
