Default Chinese skyscraper burning
The Beijing CCTV Annex caught fire!

There are quite a number of these videos on Youtube now. They remind me of 'The Towering Inferno', but this time it's real life.

This is stupid for a multitude of reasons.

it didn't get hit by a plane either and the towers were over twice the height of this building, for starters.

That tower was only set on fire. The WTCs was hit by two planes full of fuel which would have burnt a lot hotter and the WTCs would have had a ton of structural damage done in the process from the collision itself.

And from a documentary I saw a few years ago the WTCs was attaked by terrorists years before the plane crash incident. Apparently a van filled with explosives was driven underneath the WTCs in the carpark and it blew up yet the WTC still managed to stand strong so it was a solidly built tower.

That's B/C there weren't any explosives planted inside by the government like the WTC, duh.

Damn. That sucks. Both for the people injured and for the owner of the building. Bet it looked freaking cool though.

The fire was apparently started by fireworks. What was the thing built from, gasoline soaked particle board? [ban]

Reminds me of the Nakatomi building in Die Hard,

"Karl wait till the FBI show up then you can tear the building apart looking for this man but until then,we DONT alter the plan"

No, that's what they use as filler in their food.

I guess there was a risk of it causing secondary fires and/or the thing collapsing and causing more fires that way.

Anyway fire fighters have a job, just like everyone else, a risky job at that, but its still their job and they still put their life on the line.

/guess if you can't take the heat, stay outta the kitchen.
