anyone know of effective treatments or something? or maybe something i can eat/do/drink to atleast make this migraine go away? [help]

Not much you can do but lie down, try to sleep a few hours.. Sometimes it goes away when you wake up, sometimes it doesn't.. Apart from that, taking 3 paracetamol (acetaminophen? english) sometimes works wonders.

try to make the darkest possible coffee and drink it, it helped me once and within 15 mins I was out with friends.
I have migraines along with the visual symptoms called Aura. man, that crap just makes me wanna die when it hits me. you're lucky to be able to look at a dim monitor as I can't stand anything brighter than complete darkness and silence.

I have tension headache. It starts with tense muscles in my shoulder and goes up my neck right to my skull.. Sometimes I even feel it going behind one of my eyes.

A small movement with moving my head makes it feel like someone bounces on it with a sledgehammer..

I feel that breathing through my mouth relieves it somewhat. The doctor gave me valium with a painkiller to relax the muscles and painkiller for the obvious. But when I feel this coming I take 2 400mg Ibuprofens and that seems to help wonders for me!

Maybe Ibuprofen helps you too

Feel better soon[yes]

Iburofen is not a migraine medicine, just a painkiller, so I doubt it is going to help, also speaking from experience. Iburofen only sometimes helps my conventional headaches. relieving migraines is all about taking care of the problem itself and not the symptoms(i.e. pain, dizziness...) afaik.

maybe ask a neurologist to prescribe you a pill that's meant for migraines?

I know it isn't the medicine against migraine, but migraines are not always fully understand by doctors.

Can't hurt to try if he didn't already.

I dunno about your guys migraines but you're talking about looking at screens, even on the dimmest setting wouldn't work for me. When I have a migraine, I'm completely bed ridden and when I'm not hugging the toilet puking, I'm doing my best to close my eyes and sleep (or die, whichever comes first! [thumbup])

EDIT: I also get Auro or "floaters" which inhibit me from looking at pretty much anything. It usually takes the form of a rather large C shape starting on the left of my vision.

well, that's what neurologists are for, and some of them specialize with migraines... let alone pain clinics.
I think it's wrong to treat it with a medication that's not meant for it.
can't hurt... I don't know. Iburofen does love to play with livers (if taken in excess of course), although the same goes for most migraine pills I know.

I went to countless neurologists to find the cure for me but none of what's in the market helps me, so later some chief doctor who's in charge of neurology in a hospital checked me up and told me to try taking some stuff for epileptic people, AND diagnose my liver once every few months, I was like no thanks.
I hope you'll have more luck.

Take the tabs, dark room, lie down.

Put something ice cold over the forehead, frozen peas are good. Just be sure to keep them in the bag [yes]

It's obviously really cold at first but they soon start to defrost but it's the only thing that I find helps.
I'm lucky, not a sufferer of them like some and haven't had one in years but I remember how they felt.

I think cold stuff will tighten his blood vessels = bad.
it's needs to be widened so the blood flows freely in the brain. cold ain't good.

this is what migraines are all about, blood vessels going crazy, messing with blood flow in the brain.

all i'm saying is from pure experience and research i've made about it!

the 1st day was the worst i guess,i woke up around 8am (as i usually wake up 7am,so thats already "oversleeping" for me) i was really convincing myself to go to work,so i got up and as soon as i saw the least bit of light coming from one of the windows,my head suddenly throbbed like hell and felt like it was about to explode.i just sms'ed the office as i couldnt get myself to speak about the current situation. spent the whole day lying down, sitting up straight, then after 5 mins i would lie down again..and everytime i fell asleep whether it was 30mins or 3 hours, when i wake up my eyes feel like theyre going to pop out and my head feels worse than before i fell asleep and felt like i wanted to throw up my insides, but couldnt cos i didnt get to eat that much [no]

il be going to doc in awhile, just want to wait for the sun to go down..
thanks for all the help guys, really appreciate it [yes]

I've been suffering from headaches/migraines for about 8 years now. I have a headache every minute of every day, never any relief. I used to have migraines roughly every 3 days. I went to countless neurologists, tried countless meds including experimental ones. I even wound up in the ER with reactions to some of those meds. After going through countless doctors for about 5 years I gave up and just decided to live with it. I also get Auras. Once I was driving and completely lost my vision for about 5 seconds. It felt like 10 minutes though. Luckily I was on a straight section of the road. I just let off of the gas and coasted straight.

Anyway, after a few years of doing nothing, I decided to try something again. Got a few more CT scans and they found nothing. Tried a few more painkillers and nothing. Then I went to the Chiropractor. I've been going for about a year now and only have a migraine once every 2 months or so. I still have a headache every day, but I can deal with that.

I watch my diet as well. There are things that set off my migraines. Too much fried/fatty foods, chocolate, sugar, even dust can all set it off.

My next step is to see an allergist.

Could be worse.

I've been hit with a stomach bug and now I'm probably down to 10% body water content, to make things worse, I have a headache and a temperature. Joy.

idchoppers, I found that if I'm in a very good shape (doing a lot of aerobic like running\swimming) these migraines occur much more rarely, if any. I suggest that you start exercising like crazy.

I've also been used to get an aura migraine after playing basketball with friends. it happened every time after I played (about 30-40 mins after). so I have decided to get into real good shape, I swam and ran most days of the week, usually 5 times a week and when I got back to playing basketball, after about half a year I last played, things were much better and I didn't experience anything.

so start working on it.
