Indeed ,
i still don't understand the point those parents are trying to make
or is this indeed just a game for them

If their trying to say `watch out dangerous` then their doing a horrible job !

if it had no fangs then the cobra is harmless, but disturbing video nonetheless

hmm aren't there some places in the world were snakes roam freely in the house and are taken as pets? There is nothing really wrong with it, in fact the kid will probably grow up to respect said animal, each culture to his own, hell I am sure some cultures think its dispicable they let Paris Hilton on TV, which I think is far more dangerous then a fangless cobra.

They're getting the child used to the snake,so when the child is older he wont be afraid of them. he's apparantly going to be a snake charmer. it's a relatively common practice.

What if he doesn't want to be a snake charmer?

To me it seems like getting a small child used to playing with a dangerous snake like that is a bad idea.

while personally,I would not do such to my own child,to my knowledge it doesn't "seem" that this ends in tragedy.

It's a snake, not known for their savage intelect. Cry a river for the cobra's,that are obviously well fed and taken care of despite the loss of the venom injecting fangs.

QFT!

Saw the program surrounding that.
Apparently the village where they are is very poor and the only way for people to survive with a decent wage is to entertain tourists with the "snake charmer" displays.
The father, himself a snake charmer was taught by his father in the same way.

Eventually that baby will grow up (if he manages too) into a snake charmer like his father and help provide essential financial aid for maybe him and all his siblings, father, mother and probably grandparents.
In a region that is so poor with little or no work for unskilled hands, there is nothing else he could do to bring in the same amount of money.
