So after all my car searching here's what I'm thinking about buying
2007 PT Cruiser GT Comes pretty well loaded, decent mileage (under 35,000) Should be a bit zippier than my sunfire. This is the 230HP Turbo model I believe. Carfax is clean. Mileage is decent. Dealership is reputable. According to carfax its still got a little bit left on the original warranty. ![]() ![]() |

I had one as a rental on a business trip and really did not like it. Aside from feeling like a douche bag, it was NOT fun to drive at all.*
*- I am a bit (read: VERY) pretentious when it comes to vehicles. If it is not a manual transmission and over 200HP, I tend to think it is a POS. So, ignore this post. |

My uncle bought one because he liked the design, but the craftsmanship is ABSOLUTE shite! It rattles everywhere and everything feels so cheeply made. Plus the engine and the chassis are total crap, its not fun to drive it, just like wizisme said. My uncle sold his PT Cruiser like 2 months after he got it, fortunately the loss was minimal, as some douchebag liked the color and kinda would have payed any price for it.
Personally I'd stay away from it. |

Hmm. Maybe I'll have to check the Mazda dealership next door. I've been searching for other good low mileage, decent priced, used sedans and the best I've found was either a mazda6 or a mazda3. I've heard a number of good things about them. My uncle drives one, and he's never said a bad thing about it.
I'll at least give it a test drive. Maybe check some of their other vehicles. There's like 20 dealerships on that road. I'm sure I can at least find something. :P |

Oh my eyes!
![]() Do yourself a favor and buy a Mazdaspeed3. Besides that IMO the PT Cruiser is a minger to look at, I wouldn't buy a Chrysler right now, as it seems that they might be gone soon enough if they don't either get bought or merge into another company; their financial situation is not quite right at the moment. |

A Mazda 3 would be perfect! Those things are very good vehicles, as well as the Mazda 6's.
The PT is a pos. Styling always depends on what you like personally, but the interior quality is down right nasty. I don't understand how it ever got a green light on the interior. I drive these from time to time at work and I HATE driving these. |

Not really sure why people hate the interior. On this 2007 I couldn't find any flaws with it. Feels solid and well put together. Plenty of room as well. I'm a big guy, and it was quite comfortable. Heated leather seats are nice too.
Pretty low road noise as well. Took it up to 70 on the highway and it didn't sound bad at all. With the radio turned up to a normal listening volume (normal for most people, not quite as high as I listen to it) the only thing I heard was the exhaust. Someone put a custom exhaust on it. I like the style as well. I think they look nice. Maybe they've fixed some issues on the newer models, or the build quality is slightly better on the GT. Handling was good. Acceleration was good too. When you floor it it feels more like a V6 than 4-cyl. Add in the fact that they have the turning radius of a large truck I'll agree with that. Its kind of awkward to park it. I've parked worse, but its definitely different than my sunfire, or my wife's alero. But during normal driving it feels fine. I took it down a few roads, made a u-turn, and took it through a meijer parking lot. I think I like it. I tried to find faults with it, but I couldn't. The handling was better than expected, acceleration was better than expected, and I couldn't find any problems with the interior. Plus the thing is loaded. All the options like sat radio, heated seats, dimming mirrors, built in garage door opener, blue-tooth. The only things I'd probably change are the seats. I'd make them a little more contoured or something. Like the sporty cloth seats you find in a ricer rather than these classic looking leather seats.. but I guess that's part of the retro look. |
