Default Circuit City Dealing
I went to CC today to find out what is on sale...pretty much everything was 10% or more off the reg price. I asked the manager what he could do for me in terms of DISPLAY items. He said that I could get the "out of the box" price.

So I found a Panasonic DMP-BD30 on display. It wasn't even being used.

So they let me have it for $199. I ran out of the store, after buying, before anyone realized how cheap I got it.

Anyone have this Blu-Ray player? so far I love it!

Well, you didn't quite get the totally unbeatable deal you think you got:

Used/refurb units can be found for that price on the ol' internets:

http://www.wegotbetterdeals.com/pana...d--p-1284.html

http://www.warehousedeals.com/Panaso...source=froogle

The downside with buying your floor model unit from the Circuit City liquidation is that you can't return it if it breaks. All sales final.

unused display model > refurb or used

I guess its a good idea for everyone to check their local CC for deals.

my CC war refusing to sell me display units until they were sold out on that model. I left with a copy of Bladerunner instead of a TV

Not necessarily. The display model could have been an open-box item, or it could have been manhandled by the employees. Who knows. I bought a display monitor for my computer, and it was a defective piece of crap.

And if you can't return/exchange it, the deal doesn't look all that great.

I couldn't find jack worth buying at CC. Guess we won't be cashing in on those 5,000 rewards points after all. :P

Maybe when prices drop a little further I'll look into getting a video camera... maybe I'll make some home movies.

Is that legal over there? I guess it must be. Over here we have laws protecting the consumer if purchased items are faulty, even if the company is going out of business.

The warranty of the company who made the item, Panasonic in this case.

Yeah. The items are warrantied by the manufacturer. Also, the extended warranties I believe are through another company, so when CC goes under those should still be good. You just can't return merchandise. If its faulty you'll have to RMA it to the manufacturer. Sucks for people who buy expensive/large stuff.

THe gave me the same run-around when I asked about the display model. I told them that they have to liquidate everything anyway so why not give me the deal. They agreed and did it.
