the streams are only 512k... im sure your PC has more than enough power to handle it... install flash player 10 and right click on any flash video and select settings... there should be an option to enable hardware acceleration which should speed it up a bit

I have installed Flash 10 (it won't work without it), and I've tried disabling and enabling hardware acceleration and switching to low quality and none of that makes any difference.

I finally got it to work by upgrading my RAM to 2GB and replacing my CPU with an AMD Athlon XP 2400+.

An alternative is Zettoo. It is actually a program you can download for Mac/Linux/Windows (so not web based), but it others higher bitrate channels.
http://zattoo.com/

It should be noted that Zettoo works in many European counties and the channel's available depend on what country you are in. So French users won't get BBC, but will get some of their national channels.

I just tried that and the sound is out of sync and keeps dropping out.

I used to use that but the quality is crap, and the HQ channels are not gonna be free forever. And their HQ channels are not as good as tvcatchup.

I think Zetto would be useful if I want to watch TV and surf the net at the same time since you can resize the image, which you can't do with TVCatchup, so I can have the TV on one side of my monitor and my web browser on the other.

You can to some extent watch live TV with iPlayer now if you go to the current time it shows programs as on now and it lets you watch them live.
