Default Man, I hate People
So tonight, my brother and I decide to go to a local pub for a few brews. We grab a couple of yuenglings (my favorite domestic beer), and then decide to grab a couple of tequila shots to start the night off right. The bartender, lets call him john (f.u.c.k if I can remember his name), pours us a double shot for the price of one ($5 a piece), and says the other shot is on the house. For the shots, it costs us $10, and I throw the bartender $20 and tell him to keep the change. For the rest of the night, the guy completely ignores our emtpy glasses (there's only about 5 of us in the bar), and throws us an attitude as if to say "thanks for the shitty tip." The guy probably got about $30 in tips on a $60 tab, and has the odacity to tell us to "be patient, I'm busy" when I ask him to refill our drink order after about 15 minutes of empty mug time.

Then, after the bar had closed, I notice a cell phone is on the ground and ask the guy in front of me if the phone was his, of which he said yes. Then, a sluttily dressed employee of the bar begins to shoot the breeze at my car door, and the very same guy calls me a "fag" for absolutely no reason. Of course, my first reaction is to jump out of the car and smash his face, but sometimes you just have to let things go. Sorry for the drunken rant, but sometimes people just get to me.

Yea, that's very true. I can partly understand the cell phone guy for being a complete tool (although it's still inexcusable), but the bartender had absolutely no reason to act the way that he did. Ahh well what can you do.

I understand the "tips thing" is a big thing across the water, but that does'nt excuse the bartender from being impolite, afterall your the customer and he wouldn't have a job if it wasn't for people drinking out.

Maybe he'd just had a shitty day, but that still doesn't mean he should take his troubles to work with him.

As for the guy with the phone, Shame you could have seen what a **** he was beforehand, you could have then just accidentally stamped on his phone.

Wow, if all it takes for you to hate people is get some lousy service at a pub and get mouthed off at by a few drunks (this is what drunks do, and why I avoid their company at all costs), then I'd hate to see the attitude you might take with the world when you turn on the evening news.

"I hate people. But I love gatherings! Isn't that ironic?"

But yeah, I know exactly how you feel. Some people were just raised to be grade-A pricks.

That's probably why I don't watch the evening news.

costs us $10, and I throw the bartender $20 and tell him to keep the change that's a perfectly good tip. that's pretty much the way it works when a bartender is hooking you/him up. You give him what you would have paid and he pockets the tip. If he does that all night, you might wanna throw him a little more, but that's exactly the way it works the way you did it.

Honestly, if the guy was as much of a prick as you say, I would have asked wtf his problem is. If he keeps giving you attitude I would tell him straight up...."Look *******, I tried to be nice, That attitude might work on your mommy, but I don't play that game.", I'm going straight to your ****ing management and tell them you are skimming drinks for tips." and then just laugh at him on the way to his managers office.

Anyways, I'm like you, I try to be the nicest guy in the world untill someone crosses me for no reason, and then all bets are off.

That's why i prefer to just sit at home or at a friends house and drink a few or 10. Then i can tell who ever is closest to the fridge to get me a beer and i wouldn't have to worry about giving some jackass bartender a tip, which i hardly ever do. It may piss people off, but i don't really believe in tipping. Why should i have to pay more money for something just because it's "customary" to do so. Maybe if the chick is hot that's serving me, hehe.

their job pays them $2.30 an hour, if you do not tip them, you should expect service of someone making that much. Bar Prices usually have this factored in at non-shiek places, i.e. cheaper drinks. $2.50 beer = $3 with tip. In Europe, there is almost no recourse for bad service, in the States you can hit them in the pocketbooks for it,

If I get bad service I don't go there again. I don't believe in tipping - you already paid for a service, why should you have to pay again? As far as tips making up wages is concerned, people should be paid properly.

And why the hell would you tip the person behind the bar in a pub, just for passing you a couple of drinks?

There is no law that says you have to. In the US, waiters and barkeeps make money off tips. If you do not want to tip, no one will force you. I wouldn't expect good service though.

It is funny though, tip and all we still pay less than you guys, and you complain about the tip!
