Default So who loves funk in here?
Right, I'm always looking for some good funk music...

I'm a big fan of "The James Taylor Quartet". I love "The New Mastersounds" and Eddie Robberts... The German (now defunct) band "Spice" had some very good funk tunes as well...

Anyone got any suggestions or wanna share some good funky tunes?

EDIT: I reckon this is all pretty modern funk. I like the classics too, got loads of them. Just looking more for the fresh stuff these days...

I love Funk! It's mostly what I listen to in addition to Motown/Soul and Reggae. Seriously, EVERYBODY TAKE A STEP BACK .............. If you want some good funk, learn from the master: ME

Rick the original Superfreak James: for me this is just about the ultimate funk song: "Give it to me Baby" "Ghetto Life" "You and I"
Con Funk Shun "Ffun" (this is one of my fav. funk tunes. buy it!)
Ohio Players "Skin Tight" "Fire"
JB's (james brown's backup band) "Blow Your Head"
The Gap Band "you dropped the bomb on me" "burnin rubber" "early in the morning"
Dazz Band "Let it Whip"
the Dramatics "Watcha See is Watcha Get"
Parliament (pretty much everything they've done"
Sly "everyday people" "I want to take you higher"
BarKays "Too hot to stop"
Isaac Hayes "Walk on By" "Shaft" (or any of his blaxploitation soundtracks)
Funk Brothers (played on dozens of motown classics) "Psychadelic Shack",
Bootsy Collins Ah..the name is BootsyBaby
Jimmy Hendrix "CrossTown Traffic"
Ojay's - "BackStabbers"
Temptations/FunkBrothers Psychadelic Soul "Cloud Nine"[thumbup]
Billy Preston "Outa Space"
Galactic "Moog Marmalade"
Funky Meters "look Ka PY Py" "Cissy Strut"
Kool and the Gang "Summer Madness"-- YES!!!! "Hollywood Swingin" "get down on it"
Johnny Pate "Brother On the Run"
Brick "Dazz" (sick@!)[thumbup]
Brothers Johnson "Strawberry Letter"
Commodores "Slippery When Wet" "Machine Gun"
Curtis Mayfield Superfly
Esquires "Get on Up"
MSFB "sexy"
Maceo Parker "Cross the Tracks"
Marvin Gaye "Got to Give it UP"
Leon Haywood "I wanna do something freaky to you"[rofl]

also, on the GTA SA soundtrack MasterSounds has one of the sickest funk mixes I've ever seen. I was floored when I saw Rstar include many obscure tracks on that radio station[thumbup]

Nice one dude!! You know your classics!
Johnny Pate! Me likes too!
"You are starting too fast" is a deadly song! [thumbup]

You forgot one though: Bobby Byrd (but it's ok, I know you got soul )

Did you try listening to the newer stuff I linked on the first post?
