I am sick again.

I used this remedy again just now since it worked so well last time.

Anyone else ever try it?

PS: I am drunk and sick, sorry.

I will definitely try this when I catch the flu. Can I substitute Jacks for anything else?

if I ever want to drink when I'm sick, the best way to go is a quality vodka and some kind of juice. ie: vodka orange, vodka cranberry, ect..

I'll save the Jack Daniels for once a year when I drink it, xmas eve. Also, fyi, anyone who mixes Jack Daniels with Canada Dry Ginger Ale is not a real man tell him I said so. Seriously, JD should only be drank straight, on the rocks, or with a splash of water.

also, this real man's cold remedy is steam room or sauna, and sweat it out. It works too. It's also a hangover remedy.

I wish i had my own steam room. I've thought about buying or making one actually.

well you don't want to get dehydrated or overheat, but sweating it out does work. Scandinavians and Native Americans have done it for centuries. It can and does purge impurities. Also, steam rooms in particular are good for respiratory problems and can clear your breathing.

But if you have a fever wouldn't you want to cool your body instead of heating it?

First, the topic was "a real man's cold remedy" So clearly I wasn't talking about a high fever Look, if it makes you happy, I'm not talking about putting a child with a 103 degree fever into a steam room I'm more referring to as an adult with a cold or a virus or a slight flu, I've found it useful to sweat it out. It's more like If I'm feeling a bit nasty and coming down with a cough or something, a steamroom can often help you purge your lungs and breath easier, as well as cleaning your system through sweat.

I've always sweated out colds and fevers since I was a child. Works well and feels right as opposed to cooling yourself. I've always gone with what feels right as your body usually knows what it needs.

I hate being sick, I just get a handful of pain reliever and some decongestant and chase it with some vodka, usually seems to work well enough, Prolly dont have a liver left but meh.

Default A real man's cold remedy.
I am sick.

I asked this burly fellow at work what he does when he gets sick. He advised the following:

Procedure:
  • Dump out 1/3 if the bottle of Ginger Ale
  • Top off the bottle with the JD
  • Drink it
  • Go to bed with a bunch of blankets on
  • Sweat it out
What do you think?

Although technically a stupid thing to do for a cold, I believe you should go ahead and follow your friend's recommendation. There's nothing quite like Grandpa's Ol' cough medicine to get you through the day.

Little Update for you:

I have drank about 1/2 the the concoction and am feeling the effects.

I plan to finish the rest and pass out. I will keep you updated as the events unfold.

If by the end of this you aren't typing your words backwards, upwards, downwards, sidewards, throughwards and otherwards, you aren't doing it right.
