Default A warning for would be assasins!
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont...n.339f3f2.html

"Almost 12 months after Marianne Wilkinson was gunned down while answering a knock at her door, police say a British scientist may have led them to a much-needed break in solving the case.

Ms. Wilkinson, 68, was shot and killed Dec. 9 in the foyer of her North Richland Hills home in what authorities believe may have been a case of mistaken identity. Three months later, police recovered a large-caliber handgun and shell casings from an intersection about 8 miles from her home. Both had been wiped clean

But John Bond, an honorary research fellow at the University of Leicester Forensic Research Centre, was able to retrieve a print from the casings despite the attempt to wipe them away.
The new forensic technology allows scientists to "visualize fingerprints" even though the print itself has been removed. A study into the way fingerprints can corrode metal surfaces could tell investigators who loaded the gun used to kill Mrs. Wilkinson, Dr. Bond said.

"Any fingerprint deposits that has corroded the shell casings, our technique will find it," Dr. Bond said in a telephone interview this week from England. "What we have is a technique that enables us to visualize after you've wiped the sweat away. We can find a print where conventional techniques have failed."

Dr. Bond said the lab has been using the technique for about two months, looking at about 20 cases. Most of them, like Ms. Wilkinson's, are from the United States, he said..."

pretty cool stuff.

Or have no fingerprints, and wear gloves at the same time anyways. Leave no traces of prints or dna that way. Double protection.

It's impossible to get rid of fingerprints. What ever you do they'll always grow back. And even if you did get rid of them temporarily the scars would be identifiable.

I guess another point could be that if you permanently scar your fingertips, then any previous record of your prints are null and void, and the police would have nothing to match your new prints to, unless you were caught and the scars were identity viable.

OM NOM NOM NOM!

But yeah, fingerprints WILL grow back eventually but using acid to melt / burn them off leaves them pretty smooth actually.

If all this melting and grinding is too much for you, just dip your fingers in some superglue for a quick and easy fix.

I'll stop let you in on the trade secrets now...

Didn't some famous american gangster try this??
Derringer maybe?
Burnt his fingertips with acid and his fingerprints just grew back.

Besides, even if you were able to destroy part of your fingerprints, the resulting scars could be used to identify you as good as the original prints.

As to how to kill someone using the perfect weapon, well how about this...

A woman who was going to testify against some american gangster was found dead with a single stab wound to the chest, But it wasn't a knife that was used to kill her, The assassin
actually used an "icicle",and the evidence literally melted away.

Thats true!
Read it in a copy of "true detective".

Years ago, when I was very much into international studies, specifically the history of Russia and the tit for tat between the CIA and KGB during the cold war, I remember reading a story very similar to this.

Truth is stranger than fiction, sometimes.

I've heard that mythbusters also used an "untraceable" bullet made of frozen meat.
