I'm about to order a 32GB pcie SSD for my eeePC which will cost $120 in american currency. The item is this: Runcore 32GB pci-e MLC SSD
Very tempted due to the speeds advertised, since the stock 16GB MLC SSD module in the eeepc is incredibly slow at writing - and it shows when windows XP is installed. Question is - do you think i'll be hit by customs when it arrives in the UK? |

From 1st December there is a new limit with regards importing into the UK from outside of Europe.
It used to be anything over £18 and you had import tax to pay, it is now £105. So this item is valued at around £80 so you'll have no import duty to pay. However you will still have VAT to pay at 15% from Monday. If it gets stopped or not - 50/50, either it will or it won't. So look at the price and add-on 15%. If it's still a good price then go for it and then if it isn't stopped you will get an even better deal. |

From 1st December there is a new limit with regards importing into the UK from outside of Europe. So if I order this tomorrow, should it arrive when the limit is upped to £105? Thanks for your response. |

I'm not 100% sure - the 1st of December is Monday.
So I would say that as long as the item didn't get to UK customs before Monday then you'd be fine. So ordering tomorrow (Thursday), it's unlikely you'd get it Friday, weekends are usually a wipe-out so the earliest you'd expect to see it woulld be Monday - when the new limits kick in. |
