Default The Day The Earth Stood Still Trailer
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=alUSiwTSJsc

I'm unsure about this one. Why remake a classic? And that's all that seems to come out of Holywood these days, remakes and sequels. Where are the new ideas?

You know, i don't mind the remakes... I mind the bad remakes.

In general, I don't think its really that bad that remakes are being made. There are many movies that I think can be done well in a modern setting; keep the story but add the effects that really captivate the audience. The problem is when the directors take too much creative license, and change the elements of the story..

As for this movie, I would give it a chance; it certainly looks interesting. Good or not is yet to be seen..

Well i think it looked good! My girlfriend and I shall enjoy seeing it and even if it doesn't match up to the original, so what? At least it will be a few hours entertainment!

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the odd remake - sometimes it can be an improvement (The Fly) - it would just be nice to see something different more often.

I'm interested to see how it turns out. I've watched the trailer a couple of times on the 360 Marketplace and it's hard to tell whether it's going to be any good or not. I last saw the original about 6 months ago and it's actually stood the test of time pretty well, but i'm happy for a decent remake considering it's been around 57 years.

I thought this was a preachy environmental message type of movie?

If so, count me out.

Looks like they forgot the point of the original movie and decided to go for a special effects extravaganza.

Not to mention, the director hasn't directed anything even worth mentioning unless you count Hellraiser: Inferno, a classic movie!

well at least you didn't say that junkie double dildo girl.

I think this movie has potential. It's a fantastic sci-fi story and a classic movie. It seems like this will either turn out great or will just suck. If they keep the original screenplay intact it should be top notch.

Hopefully it turns out better than War of the Worlds which imo, straight up sucked.

original short story (screenplay in the 50s was different and imo, better):

To many strange remakes, Scooby doo, Starsky and Hutch, Charlies Angels, Mod Squad and the completely souless War of the Worlds remake........

Why do I get the impression that months from now, I will see that this is out on DVD and be surprised that the movie had even come out yet?

Edit: It's out, and the only reason I know that is because of all the bad reviews!
