Default Phones for U lying Ba**ards
I can't believe Phones for U just called my Dad and said Congratulations, you entered a competition a while ago (he hadn't) and while you haven't won the first prize you have won a free review of your current contract and free phone of your choice when taken with an 18 month contract. The sneaky bastiges, dirty tactics or what, he went along with it and tried to find out if he had actually won anything but nope, all he'd won was a review of his contract which he still has 4 months to go, he did ask them if they could match my new cotract with O2, Free N95 8GB, unlimited data, carry over of unused minutes and text, 600 minutes and 800 text or something like that for £20.00 a month and they couldn't come close.

I said I would have asked for a supervisor or asked if they're trained to lie to people in order to con them into thinking they had actually won something which is free anyway, not that it would have made the slightest difference.

Yep been called about something exactly like that a while ago too!

Her: "Congratulations sir! You've just won a free phone and xx % off of the subscription costs"
Me: (silent for a few seconds) So .... in other words, you're trying to sell me a phone subscription?
Her: Ahem ... yeah

Can't imagine the amount of people that got fooled by this.

Been getting these type of phone ads aswell. They phone me up and said I won a holiday package or something and to be eligible to claim it, I have to buy a "certain product" [thumbdown]

I had one of those a while ago, i'd won a free holiday, nothing to pay except a small insurance fee and I needed to visit Lakeside Retail Park to sit through a seminar on timeshares with no obligation to buy and the holiday is mine whatever I decide.

Me: So how much is the small insurance fee

Them: Well we can let you know all about it when you come to lakeside

Me: No, tell me now how much the small insurance fee is

Them: £229 + Vat

Me: Stick it up your arse.

Yup, I couldn't beleive it when they said they'd do it for that, I had had loads of hassle with them telling me I could, then I couldn't have the N95 8GB, thing is, I would have carried on with my £35 a month contract happily but I phoned to cancel and told them I could get the N95 8GB with unlimited data with 3 for £24 (Slight untruth but worth a shot) and thats when O2 came up with that deal, took a couple o weeks of hassle but well worth it.
