While it is a choice the judgement is often clouded by depression or something else. I take it you have never been depressed.....and just having a bad day or feeling sad for a while is not depression, it consumes your mind and takes over everything you do.

Poor guy, and I think the people shouting below didn't understand his situation either or just believed he wouldn't do it, pretty ignorant really. If I was there and heard someone tell him to jump I think I would have jumped on their face.
Oh, I know all about depression. This is going to sound like me being a real prick (which it is) but one of the reasons I don't pity suicidal people is because to me they're pussies. I'm a bit of a masochist. If life is that bad death is too good. Suffer more. But I think there are a lot of people like me out in this world who don't have sympathy for these people because we have had it worse, or know people who have it worse, and they don't go all emo. I mean my God, look at Hawking.

I tried living that whole "If you think life will be good it will blah blah blah" crap, but I'm determined as of recent that it is undeniably BS that they feed people and that if life sucks it sucks. When life gives you lemons.. you have freaking lemons. You have no sugar. You can't make lemonade. Some people throw their lemons away, some people demand that others to take their lemons from them, and other people eat their lemons and deal with it. I have no sympathy for people who won't eat the damned lemon, and am annoyed by people who try to force them upon others. Share it if someone wants a bite, but ultimately its yours to eat.

Ya this story even made the national papers which is very surprising for Derby (8miles from me)

If he hadn't of jumped that day then chances are he'd of done it another day and in a different location.

Well you make a fair point. Not sure really, I think it varies a lot from person to person. I also think life is pretty crap most of the time but I would never kill myself. I used to imagine killing myself, how I would do it and the aftermath but I thought it was very selfish and unfair. Guess some people think no one cares or don't care themselves. The mind boggles.

So this mean you are pretty much all against whining? Funny becuase Im opposite! I do agree that we will have to deal with bad stuff in life but that doesnt give the right to some people to be bad at some that likes to deal it in their own aka whining even though if its not a logical way to do it. I just get very annoyed by people that goes "Stop whining!" when in fact, they are whining a lot more than whiners on the whiners.

i feel sorry for the people who commit suicide. some do it far too easily i have to admit, but in the most part they must be suffering badly to want to do it.

the story makes me ashamed to be human never mind English.

I support whining as long as they admit its their problem and aren't whining about something that is the result of taking the easy way out.

Sorry but that makes little sense to me, what if they've done nothing wrong yet still have a bad life, why should they suffer? And yes it does happen, a lot, especially with kids.

But I think there are a lot of people like me out in this world who don't have sympathy for these people because we have had it worse, or know people who have it worse, and they don't go all emo. I mean my God, look at Hawking.
How do you know if you've had it worse than others? I'm sure there are lots of people who have had it worse than you who have committed suicide.

These types of incidents seem to be happening a lot more in American societies.

His suicide was an expression of will. He was so miserable that he wanted to do, OR he wanted attention. He got both. Either way, he got what he wanted, so we should feel happy for him, not sad. He got what he wanted.

Think about all the people that died today from accidents, illnesses, acts of violence, etc. Many of these people WANTED to live, but didn't get to--if you want to feel bad for anybody you should feel bad for them.

But hell, life's too short to feel bad about things that you really have no investment in.

At least he didnt pull innocent people into his plan, like those who run infront of a train or a car... leaving the drivers traumatized for all their lives. Kudos to him for that.

I think a lot of you are missing the point here...

The argument is not so much about the guy himself... its more about the people who encouraged him while the police were trying to help him... and the folks who took pictures of the dead body, which I think is sick... and if you think this is acceptable behavior you need to get your head checked or have a close relative die in the same fashion and find out how it feels.

Would you like people encouraging your son/daughter/sister/brother/mother/father to commit suicide when they are facing up to such depression, and then when they do die, people to send the photos around on their phones. If not, then shut the f**k up, grow up, and don't try and sound like a big shot by devaluing the problem.

If he doesn't even care about his own life, why bother, one less emo kid, thats a good news
So this guy was just an emo eh? What have you done in your life that makes it any more valuable? I bet Nothing... in fact if it was you I don't even think you would make the news. Think about that.

There you go. [rolleyes]

Some people need help, and its comments like this that reflect your maturity level and lack of understanding for human beings.

You sounds like that news is actually a good thing, making in in the news when you die and get laughed at, I do agree it is way out of my league
