Just carry on with your thoughts of your friend. The whole concept of Planet X kicked off over 150 years ago, not long after Neptune was discovered. Basically, once the orbit of Uranus had been calculated, it was discovered that the planet itself either seemed to be ahead or behind expectations drawn from its calculated orbit. The discrepancies suggested that another planet, of a size similar Uranus, was further out from the Sun and so the hunt began. English and French mathematicians worked out the theoretical details and gave approximated locations as to where astronomers should look - purely by chance, because their calculations were wrong, Neptune was found.
However, Neptune's orbit ended up being like Uranus', with the planet either lagging or running ahead of predictions, prompting the notion that it too was being affected by another planet, even further out in space. Cue "Planet X" (X simply being the Roman numeral for 10). Unfortunately, by the time Pluto was found, it was already being realised that the orbital discrepancies of Uranus and Neptune weren't down to larger planets out in space but observational errors and limiting factors in the algorithms used to calculations the orbits. Modern techniques, in both areas, have removed such problems. Unfortunately, tin-foil hat people still want Planet X to exist and so every time a Kuiper Belt object is found, they start going on about the Mayans and alien races. They're bonkers - the lot of them. |

I have watched many videos on this and have heard a lot of guests talk about it on Coast to Coast AM and if its true it will supposidly pass near by in 2012 according to Myan prophecies. It gets crazy sounding to bacause suppisidly it is inhabited by the Nephilim , decendants of the Anunaki or fallen angels. The Nephilim are mentioned in the Bible...David and Goliath. Goliath was one suppisidly. And some think they are comming back.It gets real weird and there is way to much for me to want to type.
Look here and see.. http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...rch_type=&aq=f The government probably wouldn't tell us if it was true but some Government would. The whole theory is based on a theory that we live in a binary star system. Niberu orbits a brown dwarf...the other star. How do our stargazers miss another star in our solar system if we can see Pluto (AKA the rock formerly known as a planet. And why didn't our much larger star just pull it in the last time the thing came by? I dont know what book they are looking at but in any gravitational physics book I have looked at its just plain impossible. I hope its not true. No one can prove it is or those who can arn't telling us about it to avoid panic. But on the other hand no one can prove it isn't. Every generation seems to have their end time date. If anything terrible happens I would rather worry about something real, tangible. Like Nuclear War or the caldera Volcano here in the US AKA Yellowstone National Park. Now that is scary >> http://news.nationalgeographic.com/n...llowstone.html |

Nibiru (with regards to Planet X) is an invention by one person, who claims that Sumerian texts purported the existence of it. Can't remember his name but I do know that other people have take his claims and run off with them, adding in Mayan "prophecies" and so on. And thanks to Intel and Tim Berners-Lee, any loon with a PC can create "evidence" and post it up for other gullible people to watch.

You might be talking about Zecharia Sitchin. He talks a lot of crap about the Samarian texts and Niberu.

I always find it annoying that people feel the need to believe in some made up crap cause its mysterious and magical when there are plenty of REALLY exciting, interesting and more importantly REAL things out there to read about.
Hell, during my Stellar Astrophysics course I had coolness and excitement coming out of my pores. Stars are awesome. |

Don't know a huge amount about the Mayans but I do know this: their long cycle calendar only ends in 2012, as much as our 2008 calendar ends on the 31st December 2008 or that the 20th century ended on the 31st December 1999. In other words, the number is simply arbitrary. First day of the 21st century was 1st January 2001. ![]() Oh, back on topic - Neeyik is correct - it's a load of twaddle! |
