OK, I recently stumbled on the movie Control, and have discovered the band Joy Division. Only two record released before the lead singer killed himself and the remainder formed New Order.
I am frankly blown away by this music. It is not like New Order at all, it was way ahead of the curve, depressing, powerful, cements itself into your brain. "Isolation" "Control" "Transmission" "Love will Tear us Apart" and many others are just amazing songs. I highly recommend that you check out both the movie "Control" and the band Joy Division. This is absurdly LTTP, but I have had the greatest hits on continuous replay for over a week straight. Anyone else listen to these musical geniuses? |

I absolutely love the band. Have listened to them for over 15 years.
It's funny when people find out that New Order is related to them in any way. Check out some of the early New Order albums...they have a similar flavour. In fact, the first single by them was originally two songs written by Joy Division but never fully recorded in a studio when Ian was still alive. Both his and Dwayne Goettel's (from Skinny Puppy) deaths frustrate me to no end when I think about what could've been... |
